Just done the eat a packet of crisps thing. If I complain of being in pain over the next 24 hours, it's my own stupid fault.

I have voted Green before, & I was leaning Green in 2026 before those Polanski fumblings. The Zionism is Racism thing is vilely antisemitic. It's not a small thing that's going away. It's not just people who never voted Green before & Green MPs. It, & the obtuse denial, are hygiene issues.

There are many things to hate autocorrect for, but one of the most enraging for me is it always changing correct "its" to "it's". If the techbros can ai that away, instead of concentrating on new ways to make porn, then maybe my dislike of it's shitty implementation might subside.

Apparently now they back FPTP - at least until their vote share falls below the Conservatives I suppose. Assuming the quoted Tice remarks are actually policy now. (H/t @politico.com )

Children of the Sun, See your time has just begun. Searching for your ways, Through adventures every day. Every day and night, With the condor in flight, With all your friends in tow, We search for the Cities of Gold. Aaah, ah ah ah ah, Someday we will find, Those Cities of Gold.

I really could not see the Greens shooting themselves in the foot like this. It didn't seem plausible that a party on the fringe of power for the first time would self implode so absolutely. Why does the left have this antisemitic problem? What disconnect is there to play these purity games?

For me, "doing better" for the Lib Dems means doing more with the MPs they already have. The key question here is "why should you want a large bloc of Lib Dem MPs"? When there are 72 of them, & liberal-democracy is in crisis, they have both an opportunity & an obligation to give a better answer.

I'm really struggling with my mental health at the moment. I think taking Mounjaro might be contributing. For so long I have only been able to motivate myself with primal needs; Mounjaro is removing appetite, the urge to eat, & I'm struggling to motivate at all.

The Ed Davey LDs are a suicide drone aimed at the Conservative Party which takes all their safest seats and fills them with, essentially, community independents who are very difficult to remove, blocking any potential Tory majority. They do that very well. What they don’t have is policy

Starmer's resignation Lords appointments are going to be weird, aren't they. Lord McSweeney is obvious, but is there anyone else he didn't blame for all his mistakes? Is he giving a lordship to the unlauded who must have run DPP in his stead?

I just genuinely don't understand what he's thinking from a political point of view, let alone a moral one. What is his theory for why Starmer became so unpopular? That he wasn't Andy Burnham? Surely he sees it was cowardly shit like this that helped tank his predecessor's ratings.

I have no idea what I was doing when Diana died. It didn't mean much to me, & I was bemused then & now with how much some people cared. September 11th I remember, I was visiting Liverpool for the first time with friends, & the whispers in the market stalls were that half a million were dead.

I don't have strong feelings on votes at 16 either way. I do like that the age group 16-29 is much closer to uniform size with 30-44, 45-59, 60-74, 75+, to be able to do mental arithmetic on polling data much easier.

Kevin Keegan became Newcastle manager as I was getting into football, & his style of football, focussed on attacking & entertaining was a joy to watch. A sad day to see him go after an England scoreline that could have been from a Keegan team. Brings back a lot of memories from childhood.

If true, we get 3 things. None good. 1. The direct negative growth/fiscal impacts of cutting immigration. 2. A Chancellor who prioritises their own personal/ideological obsessions over the UK economy. 3. A PM who through myopia or weakness chooses 1 and 2.

I'm sure a fair few social liberals who had been chased away from Labour are at least Burnham-curious and may return – I suspect that's the poll bump so far. But I don't think it would take much, at all, to chase them away again. And I think they'd be much harder to pull back a second time.

Apparently the team going 2-0 up means it'll be hard for the other team to come back now. I hate ITV commentary mainly for pretending there was spray for telling players they've been naughty. I don't know if I imagined that bit, or it really happened.

One of the ways the Starmer people went wrong I think is going beyond "showing you're not so left wing that it mobilises centre-centre right votes against you" to "repeatedly kicking the left". You want to be inoffensive enough not to scare the horses, not yelling "BOO!" at your own fucking horses

Health warning Find out now published a poll for Gorton & Denton with 51 respondents after don't knows removed. That's +-14%, if it was possible to actually get a representative sample that small. This is Lab +14, Ref -12 since the locals, nationally they have Lab +2, Ref -2 over the same period.

I don't like dunking on people, but I can't help myself responding when somebody is oblivious to their own partisanship. The responses to the world cup moving to 64 have been a grey area. Do people not know the last cup of 32 was held in a small country the population of Wales?

A great thing is that most English people don't know or care which player that is. They're English, they play for England. Most people couldn't care less what country the player was born in, or where their ancestors came from. They're representing England today, not a stereotype of 1776 England.

Flabbergasted to explain independence of a nation, or not, is different from football. To actual Americans, not English & Scottish nationalists. It's sport. It's a pastime, a hobby, a distraction. If you want to be like that, come visit a holiday park full of Glaswegians in the UK.

Why does this guy who's had a job not in London for a decade not know everything that a Londoner knows about the last decade of changes in London? He better be proposing that people get more control of their local area, while he's demonstrating people elsewhere can't be privy to everything local.

The people that need prodding about Farage being on the take are Reform voters. That's mostly old people. Old people watch TV. Old people see outrageously negative stunt about Farage & get angry & complain. OP's friend says "it's not a lie though, is it?" They laugh, agree & the seed is planted.

<Subtweet> Social media has its place, but some people are morons. I remember coming home the night of the MEN Arena bombing, I happened to live 200 yards away. The best place to find out what had happened to local people was Twitter. News was behind & vague.
