Good #WiTMonth this year. Ten books read, including admittedly a DNF. One author I wouldn’t go back to, but otherwise a very strong lineup including one (Robayo) new to me who is a new favourite (I’m ordering two more by her). Plus the range! Literary fiction, short stories, horror, and poetry!

#WITmonth 2026 book 5: Cathedrals by Claudia Piñeiro, translated by Frances Riddle and published by @charcopress.com. Oh my goodness. What a ride. Crime, religion, family drama, this book has it all, and we’re masterfully led through it by this incredible writer/translator duo.

Ok, time for a thread about what I saw yesterday at #CrystalPalace. As you can see, just about everything has been repaired and re-painted, and in places (like the previously misidentified Xiphodon) re-positioned. It looks fantastic and you have to check it out, even if you've visited before...

The thing about #WiTMonth, why I keep doing it each year, is it prompts me to return to some old favourites but also to try some authors who are new to me. I’m reading a ‘new’ Eileen Chang, I have one of my favourite authors Claudia Piñeiro lined up, but also several authors I’ve not tried yet.
