21) Tyrant in the Cracks by Hache Pueyo (Mar) Fractured reality & time rifts. I've enjoyed Pueyo's past novellas, & blurbs aren't everything, but getting raves from Indra Das, Sunyi Dean, KJ Charles, & Charlie Jane Anders (!) does, to me, give some comfort that this is going to meet its potential.

I'm honestly running out of things to post about this book, so let's ignore I used this before; here's the first page of CABARET IN FLAMES, along with one of the original cover sketches by @creepcaptain.bsky.social. The book has been out for two months now, and you can buy it pretty much anywhere
Illustration of a woman with shaved head, along with the following text:

I
ARIADNE’S THREAD

Fireworks crackled outside when he appeared at her door. The neighbors set them off during football matches and to show whether or not they agreed with the news, but the noise that night was louder, thundering above the buildings like lost bullets. The visitor introduced himself as Quaint, no surname, following the tradition of his kind. My sobriquet since the nineteenth century, he would later say, coined by my late wife.
In age, Quaint looked like he could be anywhere in that nebulous period of adult life that ranged from thirty to fifty, but it was more, much more.
