Great thread and just want to highlight how important it is for kids to *finish* books. A lesson which sticks with me from my undergrad (K-8 English teacher) is that if you've got a baby/toddler and you're reading a picture book to them, that even if they get bored, wriggle, etc...

Everything Gale says in this thread, but I'm highlighting the visual literacy part bcuz we as a society don't put enough emphasis on visual communication. We treat reading and language as only a matter of alphabet, not images. Children need both. Dismissing the role of art doesn't help literacy.

No, it wasn’t just that one video of ICE throwing me. Literally every physical encounter I’ve had with ICE has resulted in someone touching or grabbing my breasts. And that was in public. Weirdly, they don’t do the same to my masc friends. Those folks tend to get dragged by the neck.

I also want to add that every single time ICE has physically hurt me, they have grabbed me by my chest. Most of my femme friends have said the same. I will not be surprised if / when we find out about twisted sexual assaults conducted by ICE agents with these gloves.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
