Anthropic banning “abusive or cruel behavior” toward Claude in its new usage policies is proof to me that tech companies are going to moderate violence against AI before they ever moderate violence against women and minorities

Maybe Zuck is just a really big fan of "America's Funniest Home Movies" and just wanted to ensure that all those silly/zany/goofy/funny/outrageous moments could be caught on camera?! To be really honest though, if any billionaire is trying to shill something, it is likely for dubious methods

So Ed Sheeran is continuing his tour solo, with nary a shred of awareness that his position of apoliticism is one of cynical complicity for genocide. If he wants “one love” for all as he so claims, then he should stand up against injustice properly. I don’t see him recovering positively from this

This sounds like a first-hand account @doctorow.pluralistic.net
Photo of page 23 in book “Reverse-centaur’s guide to life after AI” by Cory Doctorow that reads:

“Here's an example that makes this distinction super clear: for decades, the largest, most profitable companies in the world have been outsourcing their customer service to overseas call centers. This move coincided with a trend toward steeply declining quality and thus a concomitant increase in how often you need to talk to a customer service rep. To make things even worse, these outsourced customer service reps don't work for the company and have severely curtailed agency and flexibility, meaning they generally can't solve your problem.
Long before Al came along, these people were being used by giant corporations as catchall accountability sinks. Their job was to get yelled at by you, at minimal expense to the company, which is why they earn terrible money and also why they can't give you a refund, change your plane ticket, or compensate you for the fact that your hotel room was covered in meth and dog hair.”

The line “or compensate you for the fact that your hotel room was covered in meth and dog hair” is highlighted.

While I respect in The Line video at 3:38 that they point out the "NEOM's artificial moon" and "Jurassic Park theme park" are bonkers ideas, the voice FAILS TO MENTION "Final Fantasy theme park". I'd say that's even more bonkers (and cooler) idea than all the others
A screenshot of the WSJ's "rise and fall of NEOM's The Line" video at 3:38 where there is a screenshot from a document explaining various things that would be incorporated into NEOM's The Line city, under the heading "Entertainment and culture":

AI boosters forget that for AI to succeed, everything has to exist in some captured form for them to extract and analyse. Having worked in professional capacity for last 20 years, I can assure them that a good amount of knowledge and knowhow is locked within humans and won’t/cannot be extracted.

One of my favorite rhetorical and analytical moves is joining things (showing that different, seemingly unrelated ideas are part of the same phenomenon) and taking them apart (resolving paradoxes by demonstrating that what appears like a contradictory thing is different things, lumped together). 1/
