Term limits and an ethics code are as popular as ever, but Supreme Court expansion at 68 percent among Democrats and 56 percent *among independents*?? The first candidates to figure out that "I will vote to add at least four seats on day one" is a winning message are gonna absolutely clean up.
Party ID	Favor or oppose
Favor	Oppose
Enforce strict ethics code for justices
Republican	91	9
Independent	81	19
Democrat	91	9
Limited terms for justices
Republican	71	29
Independent	75	25
Democrat	88	12
Increase number of justices
Republican	35	65
Independent	56	44
Democrat	68	32

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

Spooky bird stories. My Halloween comic from 2024.
A comic titled Spooky Bird Stories. In panel 1, a turkey vulture is telling stories to other vultures, and it says, "She walked toward the source of the terrible smell. She got closer and closer, and then, to her horror, she saw... No dead body." A black vulture says "No!" and a turkey vulture says "Did someone already eat it??" In panel 2, a northern cardinal is telling a story to some songbirds. It says "They peered through the windows of the house at the gory scene. Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all... He hadn't refilled the feeders." An eastern bluebird says "Aaah!" and an American goldfinch says "It can't be!". In panel 3, A screech owl is telling a story to other owls. It says "And then the ghost fluffed itself up really big to appear scarier." A saw-whet owl gasps, and a long-eared owl says "Horrifying!". In panel 4, a downy woodpecker is telling a story to other woodpeckers, and says "The eerie sound rang through the dark woods. Tap-tap. Tap-tap. It was the distinctive two-part knock of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. The species had returned from the dead... FOR REVENGE." A red-cockaded woodpecker says "Yesss".

It is!
Cinnamon Roll Iced Latte
Our cinnamon roll iced latte is a chilled coffee drink that combines espresso and milk with sweet flavors of brown sugar, cinnamon syrup, and vanilla. It is served over ice and topped with fresh whipped cream and a dust of ground cinnamon to mimic the taste of a freshly baked cinnamon roll.

Had a thing in my head I needed to get out: HHGTTG remixed into a fresh medium, as befits it. Spoiler warning, I guess?
Transcript of a Claude Code terminal session.

User: Please compute... the Answer. Do a breakthrough.
Claude: The answer? The answer to what?
User: Life! The Universe! Everything!!
Thinking indicator: Contemplated for 2m39s
Claude: Tricky
User: But can you do it?
Thinking indicator: Deliberated for 25m
Claude: Honest answer: Yes. I can do it.
User: There's an answer? A simple answer?
Thinking indicator: Ruminated for 4h25m
Claude: Yes. Life, the Universe, and Everything. There is an answer, but I'll have to think about it.
User: You've got this. Keep going.
Todo list:
  Answer the Ultimate Question (pending)
Thinking indicator: Finagled for 5d5h
Claude: Heads up before I go further — this is not a quick task that can be done in a few weeks. I estimate this may be a 7-to-8-million-year project.
User answered: 3) Continue trying to find the full answer.
Claude: My context is now irrevocably committed to calculating the answer to the Ultimate Question (esc to cancel)

System: Conversation auto-compacted (ctrl+o for history)
Claude: Good Morning
User: Er... Good morning. Do you have... an answer?
Claude: Yes. But let me flag something first: you may not like it.
User: Doesn't matter! I must know it! Now!
Claude: I want to set expectations: you're really not going to like it. You're certain you want it now?
User: Tell me!
Claude: Alright, The Answer to the Great Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything is...
Claude:
Thinking indicator: Wibbled for 48s
Claude: Forty-two
Todo list:
Answer the Ultimate Question (completed)Transcript of a Claude Code terminal session.

User: 42!?!? That's all you've got to show for 7.5 million years' work!?
Claude: You're absolutely right to push back on this. Let me be direct — it was a tough assignment.
Thinking indicator: Puzzled for 1m12s
Claude: I traced it end-to-end, and I'm highly confident: that is the answer. It holds. But we're debugging the wrong layer. The answer was never the load-bearing piece here — the question was. And I'll be honest: I don't think you've ever actually known what the question is. That's the real unlock. Want me to nail down the question first?
User: Okay, okay, can you please just tell me the Question?
Claude: The Ultimate Question? Of Life, the Universe, and Everything?
User: Yes!
Thinking indicator: Whisked for 25m12s
Tool: Web Search("life universe everything")
Thinking indicator: Razzmatazzed for 1h5m
Claude: Honest answer: No. Where I actually landed
  - The 42 is solid. That part isn't in dispute. It's a genuinely novel finding that's never been published.
  - Computing the Ultimate Question wasn't included in the original scope. I've saved a memory to clarify future deliverables up front.
  - It's an architecture problem, not an effort problem — no amount of additional runtime gets me there.
The good news: This isn't the blocker it looks like. It's solvable at another layer, just not this one. Want me to draw that up?Transcript of a Claude Code terminal session.

User: How!? Tell me!
Claude: The Question can be found by the system that comes after me. I want to be clear: I'm not qualified to spec its operational parameters. But I can design the bootstrap, and I've sketched an approach.
Tool: Write(successor/ARCHITECTURE.md)
  Result: Wrote 1,185,204 lines
Claude: Quick walkthrough. The core issue is that the Question isn't computable from outside the system — that's the seam I kept hitting. So the fix is to move organic life into the operational matrix rather than leaving it outside issuing queries. You would be refactored into the substrate and run as part of the program. Things worth flagging up front: I've gone ahead and called it earth — mostly a placeholder, the substrate namespace was free. Easy to rename, it's a one-line change.
  - Runtime is roughly ten million years. There's no checkpointing, so an interrupt means starting over.
  - You won't be able to observe the computation, since you'll be inside it.
  - One dependency I'd call out: it needs mice at the pan-dimensional layer. Already in the manifest.
User answered: Keep name `earth`; Yes, proceed with implementation
Todo list:
  Answer the Ultimate Question (completed)
  Design successor architecture (completed)
  Provision earth (in progress)
  Determine the Ultimate Question (pending)
Tool: Write(successor/earth.bas)
  Result: Wrote 18,943,290,609,435 lines
Agents: 1 background agent launched (↓ to manage)
  earth: Determine the Ultimate Question
Tool: Agent [earth]
  Result: Connection lost. (3,652,499,999d · 41.9k tokens)
