I’m all for storylines! I’m thinking more of how students are kept out of interesting experiences because of they haven’t studied a particular thing that isn’t actually all that relevant.

If only you’d sent your child to “a “no excuses” charter school.” Then they “would have received a solid education” and the story would be about “the effectiveness and impact coherent curriculum, strict discipline, effective teacher training, and high expectations have on student success…”

If anybody is curious- it's 95% student centric. Based entirely on the idea of a central angle (in degrees) creating an arc length on the circumference of a unit circle (i later break it to them that these are radians), then adding in the coordinate of that point drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Homework as a filter for privilege.
A student is more likely to complete homework if:
Separate work space (desk)
Quiet
Support available in evening Support is college educated
Support is fluent in English
Computer and internet
Protected homework time

Carl Sagan worked for a year with a diverse team to assemble the Golden Record that accompanied Voyager 1 & 2, both of which have now left the solar system. But how would an alien civilization play a golden record & how could a phonograph record contain sound AND image data? Let's talk about it.
Carl Sagan shows the *Pioneer plaque*, not the Golden Record design. This was decried as "smut in space!" by hand-wringing weirdos, which is the reason the Voyager probes don't show naked humans on it.

Break up the public schools and return us to “classical” education @covingtonedu.bsky.social! We have to get back to the days before the corrupting influence of the government and ideals of equal education for all took over. Give parents back their authority.

I don't want to be the last of my kind -- not one of the last humans, as we face wipeout by ecological catastrophe. I also don't want to be among the last of the American particle cosmologists, even as funding for our field collapses and support at national labs disappears. So I wrote this book.
