ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Strange Houses: mostly okay. I was moderately engaged and it's such a quick read that it didn't feel like a complete waste of time 000
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Strange Houses: bad, just really bad. Gets a point for making me laugh at its ridiculousness I guess Strange Buildings: meh. I'd already basically figured it out but nope, still gonna overexplain it like you're five. Not as clever as it thinks it is. 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Strange Buildings done. My curiosity is satiated and I can comfortably never read an Uketsu novel again. A very mixed bag this was of nothing particularly great. The prose throughout is straight forward and easy to understand and wholly uncompelling, imo. The gimmick wears thin in many places too 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 09/10/2026These books have had some offensive diagrams that insult my reading comprehension but wow man 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Do you think I am stupid? Do you think I'm a dumb little baby? 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Hopefully the official announcement when it comes will address these things though 000
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Remember: The above concerns are exactly why AO3 doesn't and will not have an app. Would hate to see Ellipsus ruin a good thing with the huge potential drawbacks that could come with a mobile app. 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Also chiming in with concerns if this is an app about what that could mean for possible compliance and policing for app store guidelines. I would love to have offline mode though, even better, a locally run PC program (that would hopefully work on Linux too) 100

ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Uketsu's simple language makes these books very quick reads too, for better or worse. 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Strange Pictures was all right. More engaging and better constructed than Strange Houses at any rate. Still some redundant use of diagrams but illustrations as part of the narrative felt generally much more natural here. It really makes Strange Houses look so much more lazy in comparison. 100

ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I don't need a diagram if you already explaining it in the text! It's a redundancy, please gives readers more credit than this. 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 05/10/2026One down, two to go. The frustrating part is I think there's a good story in here, if it were handled by a more skilled writer than Uketsu. I understand the idea behind the illustrations/diagrams is "accessibility" but I found it excessively hand-holdey, giving the same info over and over. 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026The problem, imo, is it feels like the story is precariously fit around it's absurd logic and conjecture and then treats it like it's a natural conclusion when it very much is not. It's internet conspiracy backwards logic where every problem and slightly odd thing must have a sinister explanation 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Kurihara cracks me up. His only solution to every problem is "it must be a murder conspiracy" 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I try to meet things with an open mind. The polarizing opinions about these particular books made me curious, and it's not hate reading, but first impression has certainly set a tone 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Maybe these will be fun bad. One can hope, because my expectations are very low now 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Oh boy, I have committed myself to read all three of Uketsu's novels (I have a curiosity that must be satisfied) and 30 pages into Stranges Houses I started laughing at the wild leaps of logic suddenly happening 100

Reposted by ArtemisNathanielPrimeThomas Ha @thomasha.bsky.social · 29/09/2026i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko. 1764882487
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Roko's Basilisk need not keep you up at night, there is a third option in which we shut off the A/I and smash it to pieces with hammers 000
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I don't mean to go off on a tangent, but I do have a unique and strong distaste for these narrow minded thought experiments and if you actually just think about them for a minute are actually very shallow, again, imo 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Pascal's Wager is stupid because it acts as if there's only two options: Christian god or no god. There are hundreds of gods across cultures, if not more. What if the true god is some obscure deity lost to time? What then, Pascal? 100
ArtemisNathanielPrime @masagos.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Lrt I remember first hearing about Roko's Basilisk and it being presented as this ooh so scary thing and I'm just thinking "yes, I am familiar with the concept of Pascal's Wager" which is really all it is in a different skin. Neither are all that clever either imo 100
