I’m excited to have two poems in the new issue of Frogpond! 🐸
A poem by the poster, “to-go coffee the war blaring on the airport TV”A poem by the poster, “St. Paddy’s Day no green on the magnolia yet” The cover of the spring/summer 2026 issue of Frogpond, with a painting of a hybrid green bird surrounded by large pink feathers. A pair of rainbow-colored flip-flops is below the feathers. The cover’s background is a light pink paisley print. The journal title is in black.

In the South we are fearful, but survive with heavy fried oysters. Joanne Kyger
TRIP OUT AND FALL BACK

We left to the East in a drive away car. Driving all day, and a lot of the night, we stop only at Blue Mesa, in Arizona, striped in blues and greys.
The galley is the back of the car-cucumbers, grass, and cheese, get passed up and around. Going right through on the big highways is space travel, watching only the number signs. In the South we are fearful, but survive with heavy fried oysters. Millions of governors' palaces. My grandfather in a graveyard in Virginia. Through the Blue Ridge Mountains, Peter throws the Upanishads out the window and we have to go back and get it. Until we arrive in Brooklyn.
Enjoy, says Peter's mother, and we do, in this boyhood home, on the tree lined street.

Pleased to have a personal essay in the current issue of Queen's Quarterly! ... The memory of a terror-inducing encounter with a strange albino flower in rural Cape Breton triggers reflection on names of things, and how naming and reality shape each other.
