“Skin Hunger” is a translation of the Danish term hudsult which literally means “starved for touch”. It relates to psychologist Harry Harlow’s comfort-contact theory and his experiments with baby rhesus monkeys during the 1960s. Learn more: guernicaeditions.com/products/ski... #animalrights

By chance, two (fine) books I just finished are by profs at University of Regina, where I did my B.A. looong ago. Melanie Schnell's novel blends buried secrets, little-known history and environmental magic. @jesbattis.bsky.social's poetry collection is strong, witty and very moving.

Just finished Zilla Jones's stunning novel The World So Wide. I can't say enough good things about it. Fascinating immersion in the world of opera and political upheaval in Grenada, a nail-biting plot, and a fierce, flawed and beautifully nuanced main character, Felicity Alexander. A fantastic read!
