Just in case it wasn’t clear, when they say the U.S. Government’s paying for this, that’s YOUR taxpayer dollars they’re using. I’ll say this as many times as I need to: it is ILLEGAL to use American taxpayer dollars from the government to pay for candidates’ or parties’ political ads.

Correct. Too rich to be held accountable. And to the rubes in flyover country, they’re sorcerers, creating artificial life. So the life itself must be liable, not the corporations or individuals.

Over the last few months people who like to say things like “don’t be a chart pervert” have become obsessed with this particular chart, because it looks how they want and they think it supports their narrative. But it’s actually a weird measure that doesn’t really reflect how people are doing.

Yes. I think the consensus among US elite pundits and senior politicians that the way to protect liberal democracy is *not* to punish elite figures who violate its rules is wrong. A norm starting at least with the Watergate pardon. The opposite is true. You need to enforce the law and Constitution.

Happy 118th birthday, spacetime. 🧪 🔭 ⚛️ Hermann Minkowski addressed the 80th Assembly of German Natural Scientists and Physicians #OTD in 1908, offering a radical four-dimensional reformulation of Einstein's theory of special relativity. Here is how he opened his address.
"The views of space and time which I wish to lay before you have sprung from the soil of experimental physics, and therein lies their strength. They are radical. Henceforth space by itself, and time by itself, are doomed to fade away into mere shadows, and only a kind of union of the two will preserve an independent reality."

And also: the fact that you can use a statistical lookup table to predict what words someone is going to say doesn't mean you *understand* them, a fact that you will learn the minute that person says something *surprising*, like "I want a divorce."
