A collection of frogs for you in these trying times.
Five digital drawings of "frogs". One is inspired by an Ouroboros, another seems to have a carved turnip for a head, one is a somewhat scrungly witch, another wears a flowery shirt while drinking from a coconut, and finally one of them is "Bimble". Bimble looks like if a rock tried very hard to be a frog and almost succeeded.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.
From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

The title of the article, which I link below, is "How Bear 89 earned the name Backpack"

The @stsci.edu posted this JWST image from 2023 earlier today—and I had to do the same. This is only a portion (about 50 lightyears across) of the Milky Way's centre. In this view, there's an estimated half-million stars. In our night sky, at a dark site, humans can see ~2,000 stars unaided.
From the source: "In a field crowded with stars, a funnel-shaped region of space appears darker than its surroundings with fewer stars. It is wider at the top edge of the image, narrowing towards the bottom. Toward the narrow end of this dark region a small clump of red and white appears to shoot out streamers upward and left. A large, bright cyan-colored area surrounds the lower portion of the funnel-shaped dark area, forming a rough U shape. The cyan-coloured area has needle-like, linear structures and becomes more diffuse in the center of the image. The right side of the image is dominated by clouds of orange and red, with a purple haze."

NASA officials in the early 60s thought scientists got too presumptuous when giving advice to the agency. To the scientists, however, a lot was at stake. 🗃️ invertingvision.com/2026/09/15/t...
Porter speculated about why the scientists would have approached the proceedings in this way: “…many individual scientists feel responsibile(sic), in a curious kind of way, for NASA; they feel that the society at large may hold them responsible as a group for the operations of science in space, as they feel that the society at large holds science responsible for the atomic bomb and the things that followed it.”36
