I think it's very interesting that a betting site thinks it has a roll in the news cycle, and idea that has been reinforced by news outlets partnering with betting sites! At what point are the bets being offered attempting to become news themselves?

Before it was called off, I asked BetOnline if they had any moral qualms about users betting on whether or not the execution of a human being by firing squad will be live-streamed. FWIW, here's the response from Brand Manager Dave Mason:

"We completely recognize the sensitive nature of this topic. Capital punishment is a serious issue, and it is certainly not our intention to trivialize it. The outcome of this case was decided by a military court, not by us, and that's not something we'd ever offer a market on. What we posted is a question about whether the government will choose to broadcast an execution, which is a debate happening right now in newsrooms and on Capitol Hill.

"As an oddsmaker, our role is often to reflect the broader news cycle and what people are talking about online. In this case, the heavy favorite (-200) clearly shows that our oddsmakers expect common sense and legal norms to prevail. By pricing it this way, we believe the market actually reinforces the widespread view that broadcasting such an event is neither appropriate nor likely."

I get heel pain on both sides but the left ankle often feels like it's thinking about coming apart. Since nobody will dial down the gravity, I do what I can. Need more boots tho. I was looking online at Merrills and Danskos, but nowhere close by to try any on.

Wore the elastic sleeve part of an ankle brace/arch supporter on my worse foot today (the strap that goes over wouldn't fit in any of my shoes) and I might do both feet tomorrow, the compression & tiny bit of extra cushion really helped w/standing all day.

there's a film festival going on i found out about YESTERDAY which wasn't a good enough lead up for me to get my ass to any of it. Also found out yesterday a local queer filmmaker, friend of an ex and a really sweet guy, had died last year. I know it's one to a customer eventually but ...fuck.
