The banks are restored, time to scrap USC. Unlrss it's ring fences to build social housing. But a reduction will ease the burden for many people. We've had USC for 15 years, it's time to rethink this tax jrnl.ie/7178227 #spéirgorm

The Universal Social Charge was introduced as an emergency measure, but workers still pay it on every payslip. Budget 2027 should start a serious conversation about reforming this tax.

The genocide of the Palestinian people is not an "opinion" - it is fact. You are either against that genocide, or you support and accept it by playing against Israel. This is not hard.
Screenshot of part of an article that says:
Asked if it was fair to say there were vastly differing opinions among his men over the Israel tie, Hallgrimsson said: "All I can say is I think we are all uncomfortable, number one.

"Number two, we have different opinions, and we should allow people to have different opinions. It’s not one opinion that’s right and all the others are wrong.

This week we learned that the Irish government has proposed weakening Europeans citizens' fundamental right to privacy to favour AI companies. We also learned this week that 83% of Irish people under 25 want stronger government regulation of AI. Who *exactly* does our government work for?
AI: EU Member States plan "digital expropriation" of Europeans in the interest of Al companies
Artificial Intelligence / 21 September 2026
In a leaked document, the Irish Presidency proposes to EU Member States that the interest of OpenAl, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX to make profits should take precedence over the fundamental right to data protection. Use of personal data "in the context of Al" should automatically be lawful.
There seems to be wide informal agreement by many Member States. In particular, Big Tech would be able to use all personal data collected over the past decades with virtually no restrictions, as long as this happens "in the context" of Al. Schrems: "Under these proposals, the profits of Al companies would trump European's fundamental right to privacy. This is nothing but a digital expropriation of Europeans." All this is happening despite the key figures of Al corporations actively warn about the enormous risks associated with their own products.Transport costs and mental health also remain prominent concerns.
More than seven in ten adults believe Al will make it harder for young people to find secure employment over the next five years, while 83% support stronger government regulation of Al.
Just 17% of young adults said they believe the Government is doing enough to support them through the cost-of-living crisis.
"These findings should serve as a wake-up call," said Grace McManus, Policy and Campaigns Manager at NYCI.
"Too many young people feel that the chance to build a secure and independent life is slipping out of reach," Ms McManus said.
The polling was conducted by RED C, which surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1,010 adults, including a cohort aged 18-24.

The FAI repeatedly told us players would be protected. Yet when a 24 year old acted on his conscience, they left him to stand alone & used a vote among his teammates to validate their own cowardice. This isn’t protecting a young player, it’s protecting themselves at his expense. #StopTheGame

If reports are true that Irish players are being threatened that they'll never play for US owned clubs in the UK if they pull out of the Israel game, then that's a great argument for getting US money out of European football.

Tweet from Daniel Lambert, September 26th: Hearing from several sources around Ireland hotel that agents are telling players you must play our you'll never play for a US owned team in the UK.

How grim and predictable from faceless agents who profit in the background.

Gov and FAI could be stepping in at this stage to say: "the players are obviously deeply concerned about this - these young men cannot be forced to play - the game is off - and UEFA can see us in court if they dare" Chances of that happening? #StopTheGame
