Congratulations everyone - the right wing reactionaries have won. I have watched a so-called progressive space tear itself apart over the last two days. Engaging in strawman arguments on both sides and creating public lists of vulnerable people that are okay to hate.

Allowing Open AI to call these “rogue agents” lets them dodge responsibility - they made them, directed them and set them free without caring about the consequences. Our laws need to catch up to hold them accountable before worse happens.

The RBA has clearly lost its Social License™. I recommended we slash Bollock's and the rest of the board's pay packets by 60% to make the RBA more sustainable. With yearly reviews to confirm if they actually need a salary, of course.

the RBA board are unanimously psychopaths with no regard for the pain they cause
RBA board unanimously voted to hike and is ready to lift rates again.

The RBA’s rate-setting board has warned its fears about inflation were coming to fruition and it is ready to lift interest rates again, in its statement accompanying its decision today.

The nine-member unanimously voted to lift rates to 4.6%, showing stronger resolve than ANZ and Westpac had forecast (each predicted a split vote).

It singled out a broadening Middle East conflict and strong AI-related demand for pushing up prices globally. Locally, inflation was higher than the RBA expected and businesses were either lifting their prices or looking to do so.

The board said higher fuel prices were partially being passed on to prices of other goods and services and it was possible the ongoing US war on Iran could push inflation still higher and drag global economic activity even lower.

The RBA has already lifted interest rates three times this year. The board said those hikes appeared to be slowing the economy but another was needed to bring too-high inflation back down “in a reasonable period”.

It warned it was not necessarily done moving rates:

The Board will continue to do what it considers necessary to bring inflation sustainably back to target, including increasing the cash rate target further if needed.

the causes of inflation have been shown again and again and again to have nothing to do with consumer spending and everything to do with essentials and outside factors. but the RBA keeps pulling the only lever they know how to pull. get rid of them.

The board of the RBA is so stupid that they believe raising mortgage repayments for everyday Australians will stop Trump bombing Iran. That is the only way to interpret the reasoning for their decision to increase interest rates today. The RBA is not fit for purpose.
