This is less about an actual tax hike and more about the NDP using laziest way to balance the budget.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.

I have to say, I'm puzzled how this is helpful. This shuts down the entire decision making capacity of the government for a month during a critical time, confusing average people who don't follow politics closely between provincial vs. local candidates, and is losing BC some of its best ministers.

From my point of view the government has enough levers and knobs to both nudge and support people, so if we can simplify the laws, we should do so.

Lately I've been pondering the ideas from Robert Pirsig's book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, specifically Pirsig's thoughts on Quality, and how they relate to generative AI. Looks like I'm not the only one. Worth the read if you enjoy philosophical blog posts. :)
