You’ve got to be joking me. Here is the pro-police party that created an entire narrative about our unsafe streets using her phone while driving. Fantastic.

We love 2 VOTE EARLY!! But then again, we’re a bunch of keeners who do our homework. Would it be crazy if you voted today? Before 8pm? What if you did 👀

It’s amazing what’s possible when you abolish zoning and height limits in a city. They’ll try to scare you claiming you’ll live next to a concrete plant, but the reality is the land is worth too much so instead you get a vibrant community and a tax base for the city’s economy

At ABC Vancouver’s platform launch, where they’ve announced new details of their drug use plebiscite. If it passes (and they’re elected) there would be a bylaw for using hard drugs in a public space, but with a $0 fine, which they say would still allow police to seize drugs.

Ken Sim & ABC released their platform...and they say NOTHING at all about housing. It's a great example of how local government has squandered this opportunity to take action on our housing shortage. This sort of inaction is just setting the stage for next jump in prices & rent.

Funny how the drive to privatize Canada's airports didn't start with the Ottawa airport, the one MPs use the most. It would've been the perfect trial, they all could've seen what the result was first hand before inflicting it on everyone else.

I don't see why it is legal for the COV (really Sim) to ask a plebiscite question that involves a deliberate falsehood - the COV can't strengthen 'its laws' on drug use as it doesn't have them.

ABC Vancouver is proposing a plebiscite in October’s elections about tougher laws on open air drug use and asking the province to build an involuntary care centre at the old St. Paul’s Hospital. But really it’s an opinion poll, because the city has no power on these issues.

I wanted to take a moment to say a few things as directly as I could. Wanting to legalize apartments in the West Side of Vancouver isn't radical. A status quo built on exclusion is. If we want to move the needle at all, we'll need councillors committed to big ideas and real change.

So council just decided that they will not vote on the Social Housing Initiative tonight, and gang I was not planning on live tweeting this, I am jet lagged af so I am going to bed. Here are the notes of my comments:
I’ll keep this short.
This motion would make it easier to build housing.
And housing is good.
That is the essence of being pro-housing.
This motion applies only to social housing because making it easier to build non-profit housing is the lowest of low hanging fruits.
Everyone says they support affordable housing, right?
Well, listening to the speakers tonight, apparently not.
But still, this advances a core pro-housing proposition: to make it easier to build housing.
The pro-housing perspective would be to approve this, and then extend that same logic to other forms of housing across the city.
To make it easier to build all sorts of housing everywhere.
Because this is actually very simple
We need more housing.
We need more social housing.
We need more non-profit housing.
We need more market housing.
We need more housing.
And to do that we need to make it easier to build more housing.
This motion is a step in the right direction.
It is not possible to call oneself “pro-housing” but oppose this motion.

Ken Sim’s “Zero Means Zero” budget is reckless austerity dressed as leadership. It guts services while hiding the real impacts. At City Hall, not one of the seven Park Board Commissioner spoke in support because they know these cuts will damage community centres, parks, and programs across Vancouver

Fact of the day: We’re currently debating a new bike-share program in Victoria. City staff noted that “serious cycling accidents and fatalities are down 37% since 2017,” when we began building out our AAA bike lane network. We now have 45 km of protected lanes. Cycling infrastructure = safety.
