With some help from Claude, I got the VIC-II raster IRQ set up, switching charsets, for a whopping 510 unique Hanzi/Kanji on the screen! Next up: up/down scrolling.

I found a 7x7 simplified Chinese bitmap font at atelier-anchor.com/typefaces/di... and installed the ACME cross-assembler on my Mac. Got my rusty hands dirty with some 6502 assembly! The screenshot shows Hello World (世界你好) in C64 text mode on Vice. Pushed to GitHub github.com/lionello/han64

I call this In-Situ Hummus: can of chickpeas, add tahini, garlic, paprika powder, cumin, olive oil, some lemon juice and water. Blend with immersion blender. No dishes to clean (apart from the blender)

First time making my own pasta was a success! I used 180gr of whole wheat and 60gr of all purpose flour plus two eggs, salt. Knead into a ball and let it rest for 30 minutes. Was about three portions worth. Pasta machine paid itself back after one meal. Why hadn’t I tried this sooner?

Some of my best memories are from #XinCheJian 新车间, China’s first hackerspace. One highlight: the “Idea Box” 想法箱, mounted above the trash can. Visitors offering ideas without action were asked to drop them in. It proved: ideas are many; execution is everything.

This still blows my mind: an original Commodore 64, a machine from ~1984, connected to a 4K TV from the ~2020s by coax. And it works!
