“Sometimes to find the light, we must first touch the darkness.” To this day, I still think this is one of the most interesting lines written for the show and yet I don’t think it’s been discussed much in any interviews which is a total bummer.

“And [Manwë] saw not to the depths of Melkor’s heart, and did not perceive that all love had departed from him for ever.” - The Silmarillion Conversely, Galadriel perceives the mind of Sauron and is thus able to ultimately play a major role in his downfall.

Tolkien writes that Manwë was unable to comprehend evil because he himself was free from it—which led to his disastrous decision to pardon Melkor. I wonder if the TROP writers had this in mind when they wrote the dialogue between Galadriel and Finrod about touching the darkness.

We recently got news that S3 of Rings of Power finished filming, so this is your reminder to go read Unfinished Tales before it drops. esp if you had issues with S1+2. Once you read UT you'll see why the showrunners made some of the decisions they did bc the show is like a loveletter to it.

If haters wanna complain about RoP because of the three elven rings being made first, why aren't they also complaining about their depiction from the prologue of Fellowship? The rings weren't 'gifted' to the elves they were made BY the elves AFTER all the others were.

Aside from Durin and Elrond, this was the only other scene that made me full-on bawl. They bring a lot of heart to this series, and without the halflings, what are the Elves battling Sauron *For*? Who are they fighting for? Not an empty land but those in it, down to the smallest #TROPRewatch.

Kicking off tonight's #TROPRewatch by firing up my thread for Episode 2, cos once again we have parallels galore! For instance where Galadriel finds herself isolated and in water in E2, here she's isolated and in fire. And both times she calls out "Over here!" In E2 it's for help, here it's TO help
