Lately, I've seen ableism show up as the idea that people are more worthy when they're "out there in person" making & doing things, rather than "lying around at home" or on a keyboard. This framing ties our value to productivity & devalues people w chronic illness who are homebound

Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

I called the huge neighbor dog up to our house from our backyard and oh did that make my dog jealous with rage. She got so bad when i hugged him that she scared him all the way back to his house as he was whining in fear the whole time 😭

Over 1,200 sexual assault cases in a six year period at Cornell. The current case involves 7 men gang raping and drugging a student and being assigned essays as punishment. In 6 years, only 7 students have been expelled or dismissed. That’s less than 0.006%. Cornell sides with rapists.

A third of undergraduate women say they've been sexually assaulted. But on average, Cornell reported expelling just one attacker per year.

i really hate the phrase “what if it was your girlfriend, sister, cousin, ect” because it’s literally putting the possession of women back in the hands of men. you shouldn’t have to imagine a woman who is somehow ‘yours’ to show the bare minimum of basic human respect and decency.

People who have the same dangerous mindset as my strict religious parents who believed watching something “bad” is equal to committing a sin and thought those bad movies/shows/books will make people do those same bad things irl too, are so unserious like do they not hear themselves?!

Honestly, the discourse on the TL is giving me Twitter war flashbacks. How about we talk about rape culture, failure of the check and balances in academia and failure of the legal system? I can assure you those men didn’t instigate/participate in SA because they were watching too many ROMCOMS.
