The OfS AI helper needs to stop giving regulatory information until it can be correct. Asking whether X’s application for registration was refused gets the clear answer: “No. X Is shown on the OfS Register as ‘Registered’, not as a refused application” X’s application was refused

This is very good on the psychological damage caused by universities ripping themselves apart, but it presumes that leaders want to repair that damage. My experience is that they deny its existence or simply do not care.

Many of my students work full-time and study full-time: I worried about how they could do both at all well. My university has now cut class hours to 348 across 3 years for the same fees as before. That’s both thin and greedy. A student could finish for the week by Monday afternoon, including lunch.

Forgot to add that universities pay their staff less. All new employees at my place are now actually hired by a subsidiary company: more work expected, far lower pension and fewer rights. Not for senior staff though: they get HIGHER SALARIES to 'compensate' for these losses, because nobody applied.
