Relevant topic also for FND care: delivering negative diagnostic test results is not automatically always positive for the patient. This experimental study suggests: 'Rather, a warm and competent doctor is needed for patients to integrate the medical information and put trust in it.'

These two papers in Lancet Psychiatry about placebo/nocebo in practice and in trials are very worth reading. Be mindful about expectation in your patients/yourself, and critical even with RCTs. I hope reporting on placebo conditions, treatment expectations and blinding success improves steadily!!

Interesting approach to avoid unblinding for a study on efficacy of psychotropic components. Just sedate them before giving the verum/placebo! I assume the setting & session with propofol alone might have large placebo effects, so sample size might be critical.

Functional neurological disorder (#FND) remains a research orphan at NIH. FND is among the costliest and least funded sources of neurological disability (see graph). The latest NIH review cycle was no exception: zero FND-based grants were funded. www.neurology.org/doi/abs/10.1...
