Well, this is a damn good review! Bryan's the messiest protag in a long while; a refreshing contrast to the power fantasy of Alice's adaptation (only really 'Survival' horror in the first movie when she hadn't unlocked her powers yet). Helps that my fave RE characters are always the fuck-ups. 💉

Sad times. Niches can be comforting, but cross-play in WoD/CoD is what makes the setting live (how bits of lore from the other splats can immediately add further depth & intrigue). D&D folks are tough to pull from their niche too, but creators dabbling in other systems has shifted variety a bit.

... At least with Wraith, Changeling & the Chronicles line, the storytelling system is familiar so yer not proposing folks memorise a whole different playstyle. But even so, you'd hope there'd be more interest from yer fanbase around RPing as a whole (whether solo or totally different system). 😢

Dunno how much toxic masculinity I took on as a teen. Probs a fair bit, as my shithole highschool had a spate of skeezy teachers, above average teen pregnancies/abortions, segregated sports & was rife with bullies. Turned lotta the hate/bullshit sex talk into violence so folks wouldn't mess with me.

Being AFAB but passing for one of the guys well into my teens left me with lotta secondhand guilt over my adolescent sexuality. I felt infatuation & odd hyper-sexuality probs from the age of 6 or 7, but no-one talked to me 'bout it until at least 11ish... queer stuff at 14ish & gender not 'til 30.

Fuckin' awful any of youz dealt with this! 🤬 Enby here; think I avoided lotta early sexualisation 'cause of my gangly tomboyness. Stopped public swimming after 13, 'cause a boy shamed my boobs after swimsuit slip. By 16, bullies had groped me & older men letched, despite being a baggy-clothes goth.

The Korean film "Hope" is a wild ride! Odd & cheesy for what is otherwise an absolutely brutal sci-fi horror, sure, but phew it's great fun. Best old guy witness interview? Yeah, his PTSD & accompanying paranoia distort his view of the world around him, but he's got a clear picture of who he is in all that. Conversely, his Geist, The Franklin Rose, can't remember who she was in life, she just knows she's mostly good with doing bad things (just can't pinpoint why).
