I did make a trip to Highgate Cemetery West in London. Myself & @feyriebunny.bsky.social had already written plenty Highgate Krypt Krewe stuff based on maps, but it was fab to see the place while the Cedar in the Circle of Lebanon still stood (it decayed & fell the next year). 🪦🪾 #13MorbidMondays

Photo through the Egyptian Avenue of the Circle of Lebanon Crypts with the 200+ year old cedar at its centre. Located right at the heart of the Victorian cemetery, the tree existed as part of the old estate grounds even prior to the graveyard - which was landscaped around it as the key feature. Sadly in 2019 it succumbed to fungus, half falling and having to be removed for safety. They have planted a new cedar, but an era ended with that old tree. This photo is my very favourite by Christine Phillips.

Because I'm just another damn theatre kid who loves absurdism... it's gotta be alongside Gary Oldman in "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" (though honestly he's damn stellar in just about everything I've seen him in).

The two side characters from Hamlet are sitting under a fruit tree, debating the existential realities of a coin flip that is invariably always turning up heads. In this still, Ros is trying to seriously parse meaning, and Guil is sort've just looking adoringly at him, not wanting to think of the fatalistic implications.

Recently, the most ghost-filled narrative I read was R.F. Kuang's 'Katabasis'. Technically it wasn't just a ghost story, it was a full-on journey to the underworld tale. But there were plenty of ghosts featured in the various realms of the afterlife (Elspeth is defo best dead girl). #13MorbidMondays

You're asking for just one??? Working in the heritage sector there are literally SO MANY! Personally most interesting are: The Bronze Age Collapse; Boudica's Uprising against Rome; Bodies unearthed during drainage of Edinburgh's Norloch/Railway construction; and WW2 in Europe. #13MorbidMondays

Alexander Nasmyth's painting of Edinburgh Castle and its Norloch (North Loch), which was drained to make way for Princes Street Gardens, the New Town and the Railway in the 19th Century, uncovering skeletons of those executed in the loch from the late 14th/early 15th century. The picture centres Edinburgh Castle on its volcanic mound, with the Old city sprawl near invisible on its far side - the Loch lies to the right of the painting with St Cuthburt's Church on the far shore. The painting is from the near shore, that would have run a fair bit past the end of existing Princes Street (the earthworks required to create the entirety of the New Town was truly monumental). This painting can be viewed in the National Galleries of Scotland at the foot of the Mound.

The most iconic pastels have to be the ghost twin's baby blue with pink waistband dresses from 'The Shining'. They stand out so starkly against the 70s decor of the rest of the hotel, but also seep into the Delft flower wallpaper. Such arresting contrast for their murder flashback. #13MorbidMondays

His TFA design is base grey with magenta armour and black highlights, he is far more slinky and fabulous in comparison to his kinda blocky designs in G1 and Armada, but still has the arm-mounted phasers, jet engine heels and vents styled as sideburns.

Thoroughly enjoyed the second day of Cymera yesterday. More great panels, including one in digital format. Tried to get around the artist's alley but it was way too busy; ended up retreating to the quiet space to read for a bit instead. Nabbed a few more exciting reads for my book haul too! 💙📚

Second bundle of books from Cymera Fest... this time leaning a tad bit more horror-themed. Technically I brought this copy of Stephen Graham Jones' "The Buffalo Hunter Hunter" from home to get signed. 'Twas my fave book of 2025, and an excellent elevation of the Vampire genre (which had so many insightful additions in '25). A truly cathartic read that got me through the increasing badness of last year with the promise of gory justice. Rhiannon Grist's "Home Sick" is technically not yet released until the end of this month, and as it was one on my horror TBR, I jumped at the early chance to give it a read. And I felt guilty to have nabbed the last copy of Sunyi Dean's "The Girl With A Thousand Faces" from the bookshop shelf as it was in such high demand, but I really enjoyed her previous novel "The Book Eaters" and I was really hyped by the prospect of a water ghost story set both during the WW2 Japanese invasion of Hong Kong and also in 1970s Kowloon Walled City... it appealed to my love of histories being imprinted on places and the ghosts that remain. Also got little booklet previews of the Junji Ito Collection artbook and Terry Pratchett's Discworld Beastiary, as well as a postcard previewing SGJ's next book due out at the end of this year - "Off The Reservation", which is sequel to "The Only Good Indians" (I am very excited for this)!

First day of Cymera Fest was fab! Felt those panels on an existential level - truly inspiring! Signings were great, though I excel at being nervy & awkward in person around folks I admire. Also great to meet fellow work colleagues in attendance - sending y'all nerdy bookish & writerly high-fives. 💙📚

Signed hardback of Shannon Chakraborty's "The Tapestry of Fate", the second book in her Amina Al-Sirafi trilogy (she is of course also the author of one of my all-time favourites - The Daevabad Trilogy). Postcards of protagonists from "Saltswept". And two paperbacks - "Writing the Magic" and "Writing the Uncanny" which are essay collections on the writing process by authors (I was at the "Writing the Magic" panel and it was fascinating to hear the authors different methods and approaches - also Hannah Kaner, author of the Godkiller trilogy which have constantly come up in my yearly favourites, was part of this panel).

Sketch I did a while back of Peyton & Shiggy as teens circa 1983: rebellious and achingly punk, of course. Probably right around the time Shiggy started awakening as a Mage.

The sketch is signed by myself in the bottom left and dated Dec '18.

Hah, no shit! I mean, Peyton's a raver in the early 90s... trust me, he's taken a lot wilder substances recreationally. Weed is far from being legal or even socially acceptable, but he has the underworld contacts to get a pretty reliable supply. Pure joints mostly, 'cause he's not keen on tobacco.

More than happy to blab about #AwesomeCharacters... especially when talking weapons. 😎 As a sniper, Peyton's main weapon is a Steyr SSG 69 rifle, in military green. He also has two Beretta M1951 handguns modified with silencers as his sidearms, which he's worryingly accurate with.

I probably only caught a handful of episodes of D&D (alongside repeats of Wacky Races & Johnny Quest), but I always had a yearning for more (eventually nabbed the box set in my 20s... still have a soft spot for it's cheesiness). Come Outside was such a unique & England-specific retro oddity tho.

So, looks like a lot of folks are hopeful about UpScrolled being an Instagram/Meta killer. I admittedly don't use Insta for much, but some folks still do use it to stay in touch and share photos. Camping on my @ there just in case we start seeing folks jump from the Meta ship.

What was your #childhoodcinema? Mine was the old Odeon in Colchester, Essex. Sadly left to ruin after shutting in 2002; in desperate need of refurbishment. A new Odeon opened in town, but without the space & character of the old building. Same thing happened to our Art Deco Odeon in Edinburgh.

Black & white photo of the building's interior, with its balcony and lower seating. It had an interesting ceiling as well, with many indented plaster panels. Seats were probably awful for taller folk, but I was still a tiny child, so likely didn't care all that much.

Photo of the front of the building from what seems to be the late 80s (they're showing Top Gun and Room With A View), so likely a few years before I was there. Brightly lit posters and light ulbs like stars twinkle in the foyer as youth hang around outside waiting for their screen to open.

Picture from sometime in the last decade. The building is fully boarded up with grey boards. The interior suffered a malicious fire at one point and looks utterly delapidated. It is still a lovely impressive early 20th century cinema buildings though. Shame it has gone to ruin.

Yay for all the new followers! Love it when an artist with an impressive new style shows up on my timeline! Might as well throw m'boi Peyton in the ring. He's my main OC from The World of Darkness/Geist: The Sin-Eaters universe. Geist-bound, coroner's assistant, Lebanese sniper & bisexual disaster.

RP figurine I modelled of Peyton on Heroforge with a red-lined biker jacket and most of his usual garb - just dual-weilding his twin modified Berettas instead of his sniper rifle (which is slung on his back).

Sketch I drew of a slightly younger Peyton during his time in the militias in the Lebanese Civil War - hair slightly longer and not bleached-to-hell, overcoat and beret on, and a good deal less jaded than he currently is.

Face model I put together for Peyton in Dragon Age: Veilguard, which is pretty accurate to how I've imagined him (closest real-life faceclaim would probably be actor Mark Ghanimé).

So, I did make it home, though was very nearly stranded in Aberdeen because ALL the buses were cancelled. An intrepid Uber driver managed to get me home, but now I am skint AF. Stressful travel is very ugh. However, witnessed a lovely pastel Trans Flag sky beyond the snowstorm!

The rest of this game is utter perfection, and not using ring-fenced data sets for your AI modelling really ruins what a work of art this is (like literally one of the best western RPGs and new IPs to be released in yeeeeears).

Album cover for Chumbawamba's 1988 acoustic album of revolutionary song. Released the year I was born, the original Vinyl/Cassette had a very stripped-back sound (which I also listened to this year) and was remastered in 1994. The album cover is pretty simple with "In the name of all the poor oppressed in the Land of England. Chumbawmba, English Rebel Songs: 1381-1984" in medieval- style white text on a black background. There is a central roundel with a coloured etching of peasants revolting with torches and scythes possibly from a 18th Century etching/illustration.

Cover of Käärijä's second album People's Champion. It is fully of the artist's face with smokey-eye eyeshadow, double pierced nose, glorious neat moustache and slightly open lips. He is crying a single tear. It is high camp and glorious, as always.
