I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Deeply conservative jurists but generally from identifiable conservative legal traditions who'd stacked up during 8 yrs of Obama. Trump 2 are actual ghouls

Family is also suing Ken Paxton and Texas hospital officials under federal civil rights law section 1983—the Ku Klux Klan Act. Defendants "deprived" Tierra of her right to life under the 14th Amendment ... "the fundamental right to life does not cease to exist simply because a person is pregnant."
page 38 of the lawsuit:
V. CAUSES OF ACTION
CLAIM I: VIOLATION OF 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (TIERRA WALKER’S RIGHT TO LIFE)
(against Defendants Paxton, Carlton, Clifton, Stewart, and Franka in their individual capacity)
138. Plaintiffs incorporate by reference all of the foregoing as if fully restated herein and further alleges as follows:
139. Individual Defendants’ conduct, as described in this petition, deprived Ms. Walker of her right to life as guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
140. There is no right more fundamental to our system of government, more clearly established, than a person’s right to life. Cruzan v Director, Mo. Dep’t. of Health, 497 US 261, 281 (1990) (“It cannot be disputed that the Due Process Clause protects an interest in life.”); see also Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U.S. 1, 9 (1985) (“[The] fundamental interest in [one’s] own life need not be elaborated upon.”); Kallstrom v. City of Columbus, 136 F.3d 1055, 1063 (6th Cir. 1998) (“[I]t goes without saying that an individual’s interest in preserving her life is one of constitutional dimension.” (internal citations and quotations omitted)). The fundamental right to life does not cease to exist simply because a person is pregnant. Wilner v. Prowda, 158 Misc.2d 579, 583 (Sup. Ct. N.Y. County 1993) (“[W]omen do not lose their constitutionally protected liberty . . . when they are pregnant” (internal citations omitted)); State v. Zurawski, 690 S.W.3d 644, 673 (Tex. 2024) (Lehrmann, J., concurring) (“[A] pregnant patient retains a liberty interest in access to medical care, including abortion, to protect her life and health.”).

New: Macklemore will donate entire $1M of his earnings from Ed Sheeran's tour to six orgs helping Palestinians — and invites Robert Kraft to match him. Says he wants to center Palestinians being killed + journalists & aid workers who keep going. "Their risk is of a far different order than mine."
With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.
I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland. I want to center the parents carrying their children into hospitals without the basic resources to treat them, and the physicians, paramedics, journalists and aid workers who keep going back in. I want to center the organizers and activists who have paid real costs for standing with Palestine. Their risk is of a far different order than mine.
Just yesterday, 15 year old Muhammad al Zinati was killed in an Israeli strike while rushing to help aid worker Sherif Lubbad, who had already been injured. He was a child. Both were murdered. Both should be alive. And the ones still under the rubble, whose names exist only in the memories of people who may not have survived to speak them. Writing a check is one of the least costly forms of solidarity available to me. I am doing it because I can, and because these organizations are doing the work while much of the world debates it.
But aid alone cannot address the conditions that make it necessary. This is a manmade injustice, and I believe it requires immediate political change. Palestinians have lived for decades without basic rights and should not have to wait another day to be free. That is where my focus will remain. I will …

Ed was in a fucked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. He told me that the words
"Free Palestine" and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, "I don't take sides."

"I've been deployed for over nine months, out at sea in the Middle East aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, fighting for a country that has given me everything," Joshua Aviles, the son of the detained immigrant, said on Facebook.

"I just got a call that my dad was taken by ICE," he said on Saturday, adding his father had his driver's license, social security card and work permit.

"We have done everything through immigration to get his green card approved, and we are just waiting. This is heartbreaking for me. I don't know how I can mentally continue working 12+ hour days knowing ‌that my dad is somewhere, possibly being treated like a criminal," the Facebook post added.

The DHS said Luis Manuel Aviles Roa entered the U.S. illegally and would remain in Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention pending removal proceedings.

"Having a family member in the military is not a free pass to violate our nation's laws," the DHS said.

President Donald Trump says his immigration crackdown is aimed at improving domestic security.
