Change for the worse happens fast. Change for the better is slower, and there will always be forces of genuine evil and corruption chipping away at it. That doesn't mean change for the better doesn't happen.

Managing this - the effect the furious grief about the loss of your old life, the restriction and social isolation #mecfs has on your MH - is a job in itself in the first few years. Took me about 7 years to get to a non-dangerous-to-myself place with it. There's no help from the #nhs.

Max Ernst : Animals of the Night (Some animals are illiterate), 1973, Vence, France 72.5 × 47.5 cm Created late in his career when he was in his 80s for the exhibition of Max Ernst at the Alphonse Chave gallery. Further info in the alt text 👇
The Subconscious and Dream Logic:
The artwork captures Ernst's lifelong fixation with metamorphosis, primal instincts, and the dream state. The layout features hybrid creatures—fusing properties of birds, beasts, and ghostly apparitions—emerging out of a heavily textured darkness.

Masterful Lithography:
The print utilizes highly refined lithographic layering and smooth gradations to create an atmospheric, otherworldly haze where forms materialize directly out of a cosmic subconscious background.

Late-Career Evolution:
While it retains the biting, youthful experimentation of his 1920s Dada and Surrealist periods, Animals of the Night shifts toward a more meditative, cosmic, and mythic framework where dream logic entirely overrides intellect.

From the outside it seems a real lack of democratic values when Green party policy can be set by aprox 1000 people (against aprox 800) who can afford the time & money to be “in the room” to vote, when there is a membership of aprox 230k. Seems Green Party hasn’t changed process to reflect new scale

It seems like a v undemocratic system has been created by failing to adjust the old system that worked with a small membership, but can now be skewed or even exploited by who happens to be able to take part & excludes so many. I’d say it needs reform to reflect & account for scale of membership 👍😊

Also worth noting planning is just one part of what the Environment Agency and Natural England do. This would be an enormous change and even if you don’t care about the environmental impact of development there’d be huge disruption to work on flood resilience, waste crime, nature recovery, etc.

[title]
MR ROGERS’ NEIGHBOURHOOD

MR ROGERS:

Hi there

2
Today, I’d like to take you to visit some of my neighbours…

[He puts his coat on to leave his house]

3
At a wonderful local event,

[We see the cute toy-town diorama of his village famous from the TV show. The camera pulls out…]

4
The Data Center protest.

[The camera has pulled out further and now we see a huge DATA CENTER at the edge of town].

5
MR ROGERS [joining a crowd protesting outside the Data Center]:

The Data Center is an enormous, windowless, endlessly humming building outside of our town

6
…Which has tripled energy prices, drank all the water, and created four jobs.

7
[to camera, as if kindly explaining to the viewing children]:

Four jobs! Golly!

8
LADY PROTESTOR [probably NAOMI KLEIN, holding a sign]:

In a way, the Data Center is kind of a vivid metaphor for a future we feel locked out of!

9
MR ROGERS [to camera again]:

A metaphor.

10
That’s something that lets us clarify our feelings about something else.

11
LADY PROTESTOR:
How do you feel, Mr Rogers?

MR ROGERS:
I feel like bringing down the government!

12
MR ROGERS [now holding a sign and protesting]:

It’s good to have neighbors.

[ends]
