🇵🇸 Palestinian-American journalist and Drop Site contributor Naqaa Hamed has been freed on bail after 13 days in Israeli detention. She was arrested September 15 at a checkpoint near Bethlehem while returning from a reporting assignment on settler violence. An Israeli military court released her on 8,000 shekels bail, her lawyer told AFP.

The Committee to Protect Journalists had previously condemned the "unsubstantiated espionage allegations" against her. Israel still holds 36 Palestinian journalists, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society reports.

⭕️ Troy Jackson defies consultants, denounces Gaza genocide

Troy Jackson, the Democratic candidate running against Sen. Susan Collins, has been instructed by his campaign consultants to moderate his language around Israel’s genocide in Gaza and to call for an end merely to “offensive weapons,” according to new reporting from Drop Site, which builds on an investigation by New York magazine.

Yet at a candidate event on Saturday, he was directly pressed on the question and did not back off his previous stance, saying he believes Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza and that he won’t send further aid to the state of Israel.

The attempt to silence Macklemore put Palestine centre stage
Macklemore’s removal from Ed Sheeran’s tour prompted other artists to walk away and brought fresh attention and donations to Palestinian aid. An attempt to contain his message ended up amplifying it – a sign that speaking up for Palestine is becoming harder to silence.

France’s far-right National Rally surges in Senate elections
National Rally’s Marine Le Pen hails ‘historic victory’ as party and allies win enough seats to form caucus just months ahead of presidential poll France’s far-right National Rally (RN) party and its allies have secured a record 14 seats in the rightwing-dominated Senate in elections, effectively quadrupling its number in the 348-seat chamber just months before a presidential poll. Very, very pleased to have someone running for Senate in Maine who is clearly good on this issue and has no personal baggage or malcontent. It gives me pause that there are people who therefore think dropping Platner was primarily about this issue, especially given Abdul's parallel unimpeded ascent.
After Benjamin Netanyahu, who I believe is a war criminal, just came and went from New York, I’ve been thinking a lot about the world my first granddaughter is about to enter.

No child should have to grow up wondering whether the next bomb is going to hit their home. No parent should have to wonder whether they can feed their kid or keep them alive. And American taxpayer dollars should not be used to keep fueling that suffering.

Susan Collins has voted again and again to send billions in military aid to Israel throughout this war. She’s part of the same broken Washington system that keeps funding these conflicts while working people here get screwed.

When I get to the United States Senate, I’m going to do everything in my power to stop the killing, get humanitarian aid to the people who need it, and stop writing blank checks for endless wars.

I've been clear where I stand since Day One, and Mainers can check my website to see where I stand.

We could reduce US fossil-fuel pollution (climate & local air/water) ~25% by cleaning up the grid, ~25% by electrifying ground transport, and ~25% by electrifying heat (for space/water/food/many industrial processes). The last ~25% - everything else - is important but no reason not to do the 75%.
