in this case it’s particularly audacious given the pm has shut down critical hospital funding negotiations to pressure states into cooperation with NDIS cuts. the PM is lauding public emergency departments as the great Aus social policy while he is threatening their future, using them as a hostage

I won't be there tomorrow, because this #NDIS has me shut in, shut out & forced to fight for my right to be a fully participating citizen. That fight is continually worsening my disability, while the legal fees are billed to YOU. Kindness isn't weakness, Albo. #HarmCostsMore #StopTheCuts #Auspol

hmm, no, it is connected to the NDIA, because if a disabled person uses their NDIS funding incorrectly, because of this getting incorrect advice, that's on the disabled person (debt). there is no prohibition on using these tools, with consequences only for the disabled person

Tomorrow we are mourning the NDIS. Our NDIS. The NDIS that was about ending scarcity, giving disabled people normal lives and real supports to be who they are. Join us in Melbourne at the DSC conference to grieve what we have lost. You are not alone. You are not imagining it. Wear black.
Image with a picture of a red stop sign and the words 'Stop the Cuts'. Save our NDIS. Join disabled people and our allies to protest the NDIS Cuts. We demand:
No one should be worse off. Stop cuts to NDIS money and support. Do no force people into shared supports or institutions. Treat mental health fairly and...
There is an arrow pointing to click on the next image, and a picture of people protesting. Fund support for our real lives, not just labels. Stop removing children and adults from the NDIS. Real codesign with our community. Harm costs more. Stop the cuts. Where: NDIS conference, Melbourne Convention Centre, South Wharf. When: 9am - 12 noon Tuesday 20th May. Everything is relateddddddd
“They’ve all lost their jobs, so they’re all super stressed. And they’ve been with him for a long time, so they’re all grieving. It’s a shitshow.”
It’s not just this case that keeps me up at night, or the thousands of others every year in which the NDIA makes consequential mistakes or invokes deliberately harmful policies, but the sum total of all the cortisol produced by all those forced to interact with an ineffective or uncaring administration.

It was Helen who first taught me to think critically, although many would argue I have a long way to go.

Her Year 11 and 12 modern history classes at Boonah State High School were a revelation – a rambunctious, meticulous study in deep inquiry that encouraged every student to climb out of themselves.

For a sheltered kid from the country, as I was, these classes represented a kind of permission to examine the world as if you were a part of it, not simply some far-flung observer.

Having witnessed apartheid South Africa firsthand, Helen understood that history was not esoteric, that it crept up on you, as it seems to be doing now.

💯 the point of this #NDIS spin. It's a tweaked soundbite Shorten already fed us. "80 pg reports not able to be implemented" = NDIA overruling professionals. "Staff can't read 280 pg reports" = but we spend that time & $ on lawyers. This will conceal unmet support needs. #LeakyNDIS 🛟 #Auspol
Quote from former NDIS Minister Bill Shorten's MYEFO media release on 17 December 2024 reads:

"One of the most important things heard as part of the NDIS Review and in my time as NDIS Minister - has been the need to stop people with disability paying for expensive 80-page reports which are not able to be implemented" Minister Shorten said.

"This new workforce of dedicated support needs assessors will put participants' needs at the centre and improve the NDIS experience for people with disability."

People don't understand that most disabled people in Australia DON'T get any money from the NDIS. Many, particularly those with invisible illness, or chronic illness that causes disability, cannot even access the DSP, if they are unemployed they are in poverty and trying to compete with able bodied.
