A huge driver of Harry Potter's popularity was how cosplayable it was. A normal button-up & pants/skirt is easy for a parent to justify, and other accessories (tie/robe/scarf) can scale your budget/ You saw a similar thing with Homestuck, which had simple graphic tees as its core costume component.

Independent of Wolverine (haven't played it) mid tier license studios were so important for the ecosystem. My first design job was at a studio that mostly did movie tie in games. They helped a lot of game devs get started, and gave a lot of devs long lasting jobs. The real loss is systemic.

I've been watching a lot of anime from the last few seasons while researching a thing, and it is PAINFULLY obvious when a script is lightly-edited machine translation. Also, none of the shows with these cut-rate localizations are doing great, viewership-wise. It limits their reach.
