There are so, so many verified diaries of white Union soldiers at the beginning of the war saying "I don't know about this, I condemn the deplorable violence" and then they get down there and see slavery with their own eyes and immediately go "John Brown was right we gotta kill these motherfuckers"

it’s really frustrating to sit down and write a detailed thing like this, get 1,500 likes and not have @bencollins.bsky.social respond. not even like a “thanks for saying something, i’ll talk to the team.” having to do this labor is shitty. having to beg for basic respect is embarrassing.

An illustration of a person with braided hair and a hat standing in front of a broken brick wall topped with electric wires, holding a cat in their arms. There are two other cats in the background. Above them is the quote: "We must build a rebellious culture of care - Kelly Hayes" written in black letters. The color scheme is mostly sage green, terra cotta, and black.

A lot of people are not well right now: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is an excellent time to de-escalate conflicts and to lean into patience. This is true in our personal lives and also (maybe especially) online when it's overwhelmingly strangers crashing into each other.

The value of Graham Platner is that right up until all his red flags came toppling down upon him is that he is the most naked example of the amount of grace & credibility Simply Being White grants you. Compared to Abdul El-Sayed, who has to re-earn every ounce of credibility he has on a daily basis.

Standing up for the smallest of minorities is important because when you accept the premise that one group are expendable because small or ‘insignificant’, you have accepted the idea of the expendability of human life in general, and the enemy will use your acquiescence to pick off yet more.

of the many things to love about Tim Curry and Dolly Parton, here's one: It's as if every time they heard someone say, "you're going too big," they went BIGGER. Big presence, big hair, big charisma, big everything. Pouring one out for two artists who just WENT FOR IT and never apologized for that.

Power dynamics shifted. Parents wanted to have sole power to determine who was In and Out. Offensive to see their kids making choices and having power of their own. Authoritarianism all the way down.
