Did you know that there’s only a single letter separating an “idionomic clinical workflow” from an “idiotnomic clinical workflow”? I haven’t managed to write my screed about cluster analysis yet, here’s another blog post in the meantime: www.the100.ci/2024/10/28/i...

This is a simple but absolutely genius idea of a site!! It doesn't hit you with ai images (unless you ask), it does cite all the sources, and explains every step of conditional randomization. Absolutely brilliant!! (I died a toddler in the mud which is about right)

💡 Should we keep using the word 'symptom' in mental health research? In our opinion paper, Alberto Jover Martínez, Maaike Steenhuis, and I (shared first authors) explain why we think the term is problematic and suggest how to move forward. authors.elsevier.com/a/1nb3a_,1gY...

Published! ”Perceived causal symptom network of adolescent mental health issues”. n = 55 depressed teenagers (PHQ9 > 9) picked symptoms from a predefined list (including criteria for depression, purple nodes), specified these in their own words, and then rated causal relations.
Symptom network showing that some nodes are more central than others: stress, procrastination and overthinking

New blog post! Three reasons why (some) idiographic studies in psych leave me unimpressed: (1) failure to establish that there's meaningful variation, (2) imprecise estimates at the individual level, (3) the usual estimand confusion (is it causal? yes/no/maybe a bit?). www.the100.ci/2024/10/28/i...
