We should reconsider the term „energy crisis“ when speaking about the effects of the Iran war. This is very specifically a crisis of fossil fuels and their single point of failure. Fossil fuels are no longer synonymous with „energy“. We have other, better options.

I second this. As well as the books being well written and unputdownable in their own right, I always say that anyone who likes Becky Chambers and @scalzi.com should like these books. I’ve read the Odyssey Earth trilogy and have just started the Star Runners trilogy and was drawn straight in. 😀

It seems to me that "AI may be misaligned with human values and do things we can't predict or understand" and "AI is a shitty, unpredictable tool that provides wrong answers all the time" is fundamentally a difference about whether you think LLMs are conscious beings. They are not.
