To those who somehow don't seem to understand: Which part of authorising weapons sales to a state committing genocide, banning the protest movement trying to stop these sales, using the RAF to provide surveillance flights for Israel and providing major diplomatic and media support is NOT complicity?

🧵Many first heard heard of Scarborough Fair through the famous English folk song, but it was once a major centre of medieval trade. Its origins lay in a royal charter granted by King Henry III in 1253, allowing Scarborough to hold a fair from the Feast of the Assumption to Michaelmas Day (today).

BREAKING 📣 For several days, a peaceful protest took place in the morning, after a young child was killed by a car driver. The child was riding his bike to school, the father with him. The grieving community came together with hundreds of people, cyclist or not, creating a 3km long human bike lane.

The Hole Stone (or Crow Stone) in Galloway. Local tradition says that it was used during marriage ceremomies, by joining hands through the hole. It stands close to the White Cairn and another stone reputedly once accompanied it. #Scotland #History #StandingStoneSunday
Moody black and white photo of a standing stone in a grassy field. The stone is pierced by a hole, about one third of the way from the top. The sky is cloudy but light is breaking to the right.

We’ve got a wonderful success story at Great Mell Fell 🦋 Once on the brink of extinction in Cumbria, the Marsh Fritillary is one of the UK's rarest butterflies, but we're thrilled to share a colony in Ullswater Valley has grown spread further along the fellside.

Not surprised. The government, in fact all governments, seems to assume people are motivated purely by cash and retails politics - but we know that there is so much more that matters to people. Justice, rights, identity, the environment, security - these can all sway votes just as much if not more.

A carved "pillar-biter" from the church of St. Bavo in Haarlem, from 1509-1517. With roots in Medieval iconography, pillar-biters represented hypocrisy and false piety. More here: www.leidenmedievalistsblog.nl/articles/dev...

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
