You don't necessarily want to use the exact same alt text each time a specific image is used. Alt text must consider the context of the image and why it's being included on a site, post, article, etc. In other words, alt text depends on where you're including the image and why.

Microsoft Word inexplicably keeps unselecting “Include footnotes” in my document word count. So I keep having these sweet moments of elation that I’ve gotten a chapter under the word limit, only to realize I need to kill another 1000+ darlings.

"Investment" models of reading are truly terrible. They are markers of our descent into an economic cynicism that knows the cost of everything but can measure value only in terms of a currency already known, and books reward us in ways we do not expect.

My book highlights how stories construct whiteness even through its narrative suppression and erasure. If the alt text for my illustrations/figures discussed blackness instead of whiteness, for example, they would replicate the same move of invisibilizing whiteness that my book analyzes

All our careful labor to make our courses and scholarship accessible, to advocate for accessibility with colleagues at our institutions and in our disciplines, is co-opted by privatized EdTech, with its ethics of capture and surveillance and which seek to make us disposable. It gnaws at me.

One challenge* with "just incorporate AI into the pedagogy!" is that to do thaf well means a LOT of focus on the evaluation + creation levels of Bloom's Taxonomy, without the foundational skill-building in "recall" and "analysis." *Among the many other challenges.

The interesting question is not who uses Zotero or does not use Zotero. The interesting question is which academics enjoy working conditions that allow them to make scholarship central to their professional lives, and which academics have to do scholarship <in spite> of their working conditions.
