like, this isn’t even an “AI could create that much value” versus “no it can’t” argument - let’s grant the premise, let’s say it does in that world, with these people in charge, unemployment and poverty explode and no safety net is built to handle it

What is happening is not that AI-generated cultural goods are replacing human-made cultural goods; what is happening is that capital is flowing out of the production of cultural goods *entirely,* making us all poorer for it.

Raskin made a holy shit observation on MS Now this afternoon: Since taking office, Trump has made a million dollars per hour for himself. Every hour, he has made more than twice the president’s annual salary.

I almost never use the front door of my house. Saw this hanging above it today when I grabbed a package. Now I am pretty sure I can never use the front door again. It belongs to the yellow jackets now.

Oh I didn't think to check that. My Lyme doctor told me to mail mine into tickology if I get bit again. Their baseline test is $60 my blood test for just babesia was $600 and not covered by insurance 🙄

Also please save the tick! You can put it in a plastic ziplock in the refrigerator. If you get sick it is MUCH easier to test the tick than a person.

John Roberts' Constitution forbids any attempt to proactively ameliorate racial discrimination and racial inequality, but permits open racial discrimination as long as there is a facially neutral explanation available, even if it isn't remotely plausible. This, my friends, is "Colorblindness."

This is all hilarious. In the last year or so when I am within 50 miles or so of my house and it starts to rain I catch myself saying "I really hope we are getting this rain at home so I don't have to water the plants."

The reason the humanities are so profoundly threatening to the right-wing project of producing compliant workers for the AI economy is that, as empirical, research disciplines, they call into question whether the Silicon Valley view of the world is actually good for anyone who isn't inve$ted in AI.

The thing about the left needing a positive vision for masculinity to counter the right is … they don’t have one either. Their whole thing is “don’t be a woman” as arbitrarily defined by whatever they consider feminine. Apparently some people find this admirable and wish to imitate it
