Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

Today in Sipekne’katik; Walk in solidarity for Destiny, Systemic racism within our Healthcare system, demand justice. Starting at 2pm at the band office, t-shirts to be handed out for FREE. Get your laminate posters. join the walk FROM the band office, through the ballfield, and into the Arbour.

Justice for Destiny poster.
A beautiful 22 yr old Mi’kmaq woman is on the poster.

Destiny was a 22-year young Indigenous Woman
Destiny sought medical treatment in 2023. Her pleas for medical help were DENIED by several Nova Scotia Health doctors, resulting in her preventable death
Destiny was delayed life saving treatment for 8.5 hours, as she lay dying, alone because her family was REFUSED access to her
Hospital staff labelled her a "drug addict" although no drugs were in her system. SYSTAMTIC RACISM played a crucial role in her death
Destiny's family diligently advocated for Nova Scotia Health to help her several times. Each desperate plea was IGNORED
Remembering Destiny and honoring her life is why we are marching today
We refuse to let her become "just another statistic" with no accountability. Our goal now is to change the way Lnu people are treated, promoting self advocacy, ensuring hospital guidelines and policies are not Just to protect staff, and most importantly spreading awareness of Cryptococcal fungal meningitis
Destiny's death was 100% preventable
Indigenous females are 2.5 times & Indigenous males are twice as likely to die from AVOIDABLE CAUSES, then non-Indigenous people.
I in 5 Indigenous People face discriminatory or racist behaviour from someone in the health care system.
DESTINY TONEY WAS DENIED LIFE
SAVING MEDICAL TREATMENT #JUSTICE FOR DESTINY

The literacy crisis is not just referring to people's ability to literally read and write. It's also people's inability to read for context. I've been a public educator for over 20 years and I have never, ever seen it this bad.

No one planned properly for latest construction on the Mackay/Windsor St exchange. No extra ferry services. No shuttles. Just letting our city come to a grinding halt in traffic. This is absolutely the fault of municipal and provincial planning. Or lack thereof. #nspoli #halifaxtraffic

I was discussing the Ed Sheeran situation with a friend and they asked "would you abandon a friend for being a coward?" I had to take their hand, look deep in their eyes, and tell them "Yes. If the alternative was to bow my head to things I cannot morally abide, I would abandon you. So fast."

More drama from the mayor

Halifax Forum Community Association (on facebook)
25m ago
“MEDIA RELEASE STATEMENT: From The Halifax Forum Community Association Sept. 16, 2026
Mayor Fillmore is at it again, behind closed doors.
Mayor Andy Fillmore has asked the Halifax Hawks Board of Directors to help him change Regional Council's decision on redevelopment of the Halifax Forum. Mayor Filmore has been advocating that the Forum land is too valuable to be used as community and recreation space. He wants the Forum land to be sold or leased to land developers. Council disagreed, and in March of this year voted to proceed with the Forum redevelopment. Construction on the new Forum is scheduled to begin next summer with the new facility opening in late 2030.
For their role, the Halifax Hawks have decided to abide by Mayor Fillmore's wishes. They are planning to launch a media campaign to halt the redevelopment in the coming days with the goal of pressuring councilors who voted in favour of the Forum's redevelopment.
"Councillors and residents of the municipality deserve transparency, not back room deals from the Mayor", said Paul Card, Chair of the Halifax Forum Community Association.

a screenshot from TikTok shows Rosie O’Donnell posting a search result that says, “Yes, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is mentioned in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein released by the U.S. Department of Justice.” the video description itself is a long poem that is basically about how Ed Sheeran and Pink are cowards. it’s cut off in the screenshot but ends with #freepalestine and shows that the video backing track is Macklemore’s “Hind’s Hall.”

The PSL thing kinda makes me laugh. Not bc people love it (bc I think we should all love the things we love with reckless abandon and pure joy) but bc we’ve been so conditioned as society to anticipate something based on the season. Y’all know you can have that flavour whenever you want, right?
