In March, Mayor Her refused to hire outside investigators to look into SPPD's collusion with ICE/abuse of chemical weapons. I guess this is why.

Today's events have shown it's time to initiate a recall petition. The city charter describes the process, which seems to be similar to petitioning for a ballot referendum. Who can help get this going? Her's mismanagement needs to end.
Sec. 8.07. - Recall.
Any person holding an elective office, other than an office created by special law, may be removed by recall. The petition shall state at the head of each page a demand for the removal of the officer, the office held, and a brief description of the grounds for recall.
(Ord. No. 17665, § 6, 6-29-89)
Sec. 8.07.1.
If the council finds a recall petition to be sufficient, it shall notify the officer involved and announce the same at its next meeting. Any officer so named may resign within five (5) calendar days after being notified as to the sufficiency of the petition. If the officer does not resign, a recall election shall be held.
(Ord. No. 17665, 3 6, 6-29-89)
Sec. 8.07.2.
Within ten (10) days after the council has found the petition to be sufficient, it shall order a special election to be held within sixty (60) days to determine whether the officer shall be removed.

Despite many major crime trends falling across the country, we are seeing a rise in Domestic Violence. The slashing of public assistance from HR1 (the Big Ugly Bill), will cut public assistance, access to stabilization programs, and will contribute to that rise.

Please help. People's needs always increase this time of year but this year is even greater than usual, and when we run out of tents people are sleeping unsheltered. Finances are tight for everyone but how far are any of us from homelessness?
Weeknight drop-ins have tripled we are tired and out of money. Please donate via the links in our bio so we can continue to support unhoused people. We cannot keep up with the demand caused by current situations in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, we need financial support.$18K would allow us to give out additional $0.10 weekly (tent tarp sleeping bag hygiene kit undies) per week through February. Please help 😢

Incredible. First Secretary Mullin claimed that DHS had identified 15,903 noncitizens on Nevada’s voter roll. Then DHS officials told a skeptical Nevada, no no no, that’s just people we flagged. Here are the names of 185 people we KNOW aren’t citizens. All 185 were citizens. DHS got 100% wrong.
When the Department of Homeland Security sent Nevada a list of 185 names last month that it claimed identified noncitizens who had been improperly allowed to register to vote, state election officials got to work.
On Tuesday, the state sent a strongly worded rebuke to the federal government: Every single person on the list was a lawful citizen.
"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Greg D. Ott, a deputy attorney general in Nevada, wrote, according to a copy of a letter sent to Department of Homeland Security officials obtained through open records requests.
"You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."Following the meeting, Ms. Vogt sent a clarifying email to Nevada officials. "I also wanted to be sure I clarified that we did not reduce the 15,903 to 185," she wrote. "We've manually reviewed some of the 15,903 and confirmed 185 are not U.S. Citizens."
Now, Nevada officials are saying even that 185 number is wrong. They also took issue with a letter D.H.S. sent them in early September, in which the agency reiterated its initial claims about nearly 16,000 noncitizens on the rolls and pressured state officials to review each case in a letter to Nevada officials in early September.

Imagine what would be possible if we funded education. Adequately, fully, publicly, in proportion to its importance in society and all the burdens that fall to it. Really: imagine. People in power and on the far right have, and that's why we're in this mess. They don't want that to ever happen.

What I do know is that we need all the tools we can muster to meet this moment and
those to come, that we can no longer afford to keep reaching for those that continue to fail us.

What I do know is that we need to fight like hell, using the best of our collective wisdom, for the living and for the futures we long for, in the name of those who have come before us, those stolen from us, and those who will come after us.

What I do know is that we are contending for a vision of the future that centers collective care and care for the planet we call home.

What I know is that we are practicing new worlds.

Another gorgeous day for a bike ride. This time along the poorly marked Lilydale Regional Trail for the first time & also up the bluff by Alice Park & the high bridge. Lilydale doesn’t feel like you’re in the city. My bike started clicking when I was almost done.🤞 it’s a quick & inexpensive fix. 1/2
View of the Mississippi River, high bridge and downtown St Paul from the Lilydale Regional Trail. There are green leafy trees and a sandy beach in the foreground. Leaves that are starting to turn red and yellow are growing out of a rocky sandstone cliff on the switchback portion of Ohio. Photo of the cathedral from across the Mississippi on the river bluff. There’s a blue sky with. Few puffy white clouds and trees with mostly green leaves. Some leaves are brown and shriveled from the drought.
