Agree it looks like a candidate for Spiny. I'm still inclined to dissect these, at least when they are new for a site (males are easy to distinguish). Plenty of Box-tree Moth still flying now! upperthamesmoths.co.uk/micros.php?b...

On NBN you can filter for species = "Biota" and then use the list records option - will send that as well. Most are birds as BTO is biggest data provider.

Conifer Mazegill (Gloeophyllum sepiarium) is described as "common worldwide" but this from near Coniston a few days ago is the first time I've noticed it. Love the colour scheme 😍 #FungiFriday
Several layers of bracket fungus growing out from the end of a cut conifer trunk, surrounded by heath vegetation including the brown remains of Heather flowers. The fungus brackets are a rich dark reddish-brown in the centre, gradually becoming lighter and brighter to orange and yellow at the edge.

2026 gave us more butterflies on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects than 2023 and 2024 (these years were the worst since 1990), and a little bit more than 2025, especially in August. But beware of shifting baseline, numbers in most years in the 1990s were often twice as high as nowadays.
