Where do forest #fungi prefer to grow? A study published in #FungalEcology explored fungal communities across 11 different #forest substrates and showed that different substrates potentially act as important sources and reservoirs of fungal diversity. Read the paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.fu...

Here are some books we came across during a project in the mycology library last week. Our Library and Archives collections do not only cover plants, but also fungi and lichens. Some have very beautiful illustrations. Others (like the cordyceps) are rather gruesome... 🍄🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫 #KewLA

Research has identified an epiphytic orchid with a preference for tree species. Studies of fungal communities in tree bark & orchid roots suggested differences in mycorrhizal fungi on the bark may influence which trees orchids grow on. #FungalEcology doi.org/10.1016/j.fu...
