It is parallel to why I am always uncomfortable with this argument that because Republicans flagrantly violate the rules that Dems should do it too. You cannot use abuser tactics without becoming an abuser yourself. It just doesn’t work that way.

Rodney Taylor, a disabled double amputee, spent more than 14 months locked in an ICE camp. His health declined rapidly. Having been in the US since he was two, he never saw himself as an immigrant. He didn’t see himself as disabled. Now that he’s out, he’s advocating for both groups!

I just don’t think things will dramatically improve until middle-class white people are willing to give up their perks (retirements, property, huge vacations, etc.) in this culture in exchange for housing and food and security for all. And we have a long way to go before they get there.
