TIL I've always had Queens and Kings mixed up in chess. I thought you had to checkmate the Queen to win, and that Kings were the best pieces. No idea why but probably because England had a Queen for the vast majority of my life.

Oh hey it's #PortfolioDay Hi, I'm Kis! I like cats, fantasy, games, & books. I draw things because if I didn't, my brain would be full of pictures. Currently delving deep into research on herblore. Haven't been able to art much lately, but you can see my stuff at: cara.app/kismetta

A Miqo'te Warrior of Light sleeping on the floor of a room cluttered with all sorts of keepsakes from her adventures in Eorzea.

A purple-skinned fey creature standing in a playful pose with a cheesy grin. They're wearing tattered overalls and a floppy hat. There is a frog in one of their pockets who is very displeased about his current situation.

A character sheet for a cloistered scholar satyr called Larkspur - a level 3 swashbuckler rogue, and level 3 swords bard who is a champion of Xenagos. The sheet has a full-body picture showing his gear, a portrait and lineart of him playing a lyre. It shows his stats, the design of his weapons, some pride flags indicating he's gay and a quote: "Wine isn't necessary for life, but it is necessary for living"

A character sheet for Rhys Galanodel, a level 11 Circle of Stars Druid. It shows her detailed armour, Staff of the Woodlands, Bag of Holding and other various items - some powerful and some sentimental. It also shows her companion, Keldan, a Valenar Hound who has grey fur and is wearing a teal bandanna that matches Rhys' armour.

I hate that game guide websites just... don't actually make guides anymore. I feel like there was a brief window where they did, but now they just wait for players to do all the work and copy it. Or just straight out copy and paste from another guide site.

Haven't been drawing much lately because my extra energy has been going into a different kind of project. I've gone kind of crazy doing research. Had 5 library books come in on hold the other day, and 8 more came today. Haven't done this much note-taking since uni, but I'm really enjoying myself!

Puttin’ on the Ritz “A Singular Sense of Style” Available as a giclée art print in my Etsy shop! You can find it here: theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/8274...

“A Singular Sense of Style”
giclée art print

What we have here is an extremely posh, well-attired Grackle-About-Town sauntering nonchalantly along top a stone wall, past a much surprised, amazed and bewildered black alley cat. The cat doesn’t have the foggiest notion what to make of this situation. The hand-lettered text below sums up the cat's predicament. This humorous drawing is rendered in dip pen & ink using a crosshatching technique.

Text of hand-lettered caption appearing at bottom of image: “The question arose: whether to eat him, or simply to admire his singular sense of style.”

Haven't played WoW in over a decade, so I have no idea what this forever stuff is. But seeing a bunch of screenshots on my feed I find it amusing that they still have that 'painted on' gear. idk why I'd just assumed they'd have moved beyond that by now.

The problem with people is, there's a god shaped hole in our heads where we want Something Important to live, and we insist on filling it with *something*, which might be god or king or astrology or jumped-up autocorrect.

Games are never on sale when I want to play them. Or they are on sale, but on a launcher I don't want to use. Or I'm an idiot and I see it's on sale on Fanatical and think 'I'll get it tomorrow' and they sell out of keys overnight.

I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to replace things until they're so old/broken they're unusable, and now when I do have to get a replacement I try and get something that's going to last a long time... (Sam Vimes boots theory ftw).

Here is the starry cover illustration that I had the pleasure of painting for the upcoming GUTTERWITCH by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, for Penguin Random House US 🌟 Out March, 2027!

Cover illustration painted by Eleonor Piteira for the book 'Gutterwitch' by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson, showing a black young woman with curly hair on a long braid, half holding and half hiding the strong glow from a star. The woman is dressed all in black or very dark clothes, including black gloves, and a cape that becomes the sky and clouds behind the pale buildings of an academy. Swirly branches filled with thorns are all around the buildings while some seagulls fly above it. Behind her, a dark night sky glitters with stars.

My new piece 'The Old Oak Spirit', coming Sat 1st Aug on @everydayoriginal.bsky.social Channelling my love of deep cool forests & fairytale damsels on mystic quests. Liked it enough to find a fitting fairytale frame to finish it with! 8 x 6" in acrylic & gouache #art #fantasyart #traditionalart

traditional painting of a woman in a red renaissance dress standing in front of a huge old oak tree, which has small tokens hanging from it's huge gnarled twisted trunk. A small globe of energy is coming towards her outstretched hands as if the oak were communing with her. Mood of the piece is quiet and dark

Photo of an ornate brass frame with scroll worked edges and flower motifs. Inside it sits a traditional painting of a woman in a red renaissance dress standing in front of a huge old oak tree. Around the frame there are a number of fnatastical objects including a raven skull and a mosaic glass vase.

"I'd kill for my child" okay but would you put aside your preconceived notions of gender or sexuality for your child? would you apologize to your child when you're wrong? would you tell your child they can be whoever they want to be, and mean it? your child doesn't need more killing in their name

Never forget that time Sam Neill gave a quote about murder that was so beautifully kabonkers, we all assumed it was a Clickhole bit initially

SAM NEILL

GENERAL JOHN MACARTHUR

If you were to commit a murder,

how would you do it?

It's got to be big! No slipping

something into someones drink, that's just

pathetic. I'd use a steamroller, just leave a

stain on the road. There's probably a couple

of people I'd put under a steamroller,

but I won't say who they are, otherwise

when they see a steamroller coming

their way they'll be on full alert. And

steamrollers don't go very fast...
