My version of that dream is being told I've inherited this massive, old mansion. The owning it isn't the good part, going through ALL THE OLD STUFF is, because it always has an incredible library and weird little knick-knacks.

TIL I've always had Queens and Kings mixed up in chess. I thought you had to checkmate the Queen to win, and that Kings were the best pieces. No idea why but probably because England had a Queen for the vast majority of my life.

Like the concept of 'meatball surgery' in MASH. It will save your life, but it won't be pretty, you may need to re-do it later, or it may cause other long-term issues.

I always liked the idea that magic will heal a wound... exactly as it is. Bones won't be magically aligned, it'll trap any dirt inside, nerves and muscles might not line up properly etc.

Oh hey it's #PortfolioDay Hi, I'm Kis! I like cats, fantasy, games, & books. I draw things because if I didn't, my brain would be full of pictures. Currently delving deep into research on herblore. Haven't been able to art much lately, but you can see my stuff at: cara.app/kismetta

A Miqo'te Warrior of Light sleeping on the floor of a room cluttered with all sorts of keepsakes from her adventures in Eorzea.

A purple-skinned fey creature standing in a playful pose with a cheesy grin. They're wearing tattered overalls and a floppy hat. There is a frog in one of their pockets who is very displeased about his current situation.

A character sheet for a cloistered scholar satyr called Larkspur - a level 3 swashbuckler rogue, and level 3 swords bard who is a champion of Xenagos. The sheet has a full-body picture showing his gear, a portrait and lineart of him playing a lyre. It shows his stats, the design of his weapons, some pride flags indicating he's gay and a quote: "Wine isn't necessary for life, but it is necessary for living"

A character sheet for Rhys Galanodel, a level 11 Circle of Stars Druid. It shows her detailed armour, Staff of the Woodlands, Bag of Holding and other various items - some powerful and some sentimental. It also shows her companion, Keldan, a Valenar Hound who has grey fur and is wearing a teal bandanna that matches Rhys' armour.

I got a hold of someone locally with a commercial apiary, and was told that nobody wants wild swarms now that varroa mite is in the area. It'll kill all the wild swarms here eventually anyway, which I guess is good news for our lil native bees. I tried, but I guess their fate is sealed.

Though I'll end this mini-rant by saying Nivalis Nights is a lot of fun and I'm really enjoying it!

Trying to look things up for a new game and get 'where to buy EVERYTHING in Nivalis Nights' and the page just... lists a few vendors. Like okay. Thanks. I wanted to know which vendor sold insects. You are not helping. (It's seeds vendors.)

I hate that game guide websites just... don't actually make guides anymore. I feel like there was a brief window where they did, but now they just wait for players to do all the work and copy it. Or just straight out copy and paste from another guide site.

I'm really hoping they move on, but it's been a full day now and it looks like they're moving in. Landlord is trying to see if there's anyone local who wants to brave a second story window for free bees. Hopefully they can find someone, even though they're invasive here I'd hate to have to kill em.

Anyway yesterday I read The Occult Book: A Chronological Journey from Alchemy to Wicca by John Michael Greer and it was really interesting! I learned a lot and took notes on things to look into deeper. Though just a tad depressing how much 'then the christians came and killed everyone' has happened.

Shout out to libraries for being the best. I can look at the entire catalogue for my state and order any book to get delivered to my local library. They can take a while to come in because I'm rural, so I keep it at the cap of 30. Some books are useful, some aren't, but it doesn't cost me a cent!

Haven't been drawing much lately because my extra energy has been going into a different kind of project. I've gone kind of crazy doing research. Had 5 library books come in on hold the other day, and 8 more came today. Haven't done this much note-taking since uni, but I'm really enjoying myself!

Puttin’ on the Ritz “A Singular Sense of Style” Available as a giclée art print in my Etsy shop! You can find it here: theartofrobhusberg.etsy.com/listing/8274...

“A Singular Sense of Style”
giclée art print

What we have here is an extremely posh, well-attired Grackle-About-Town sauntering nonchalantly along top a stone wall, past a much surprised, amazed and bewildered black alley cat. The cat doesn’t have the foggiest notion what to make of this situation. The hand-lettered text below sums up the cat's predicament. This humorous drawing is rendered in dip pen & ink using a crosshatching technique.

Text of hand-lettered caption appearing at bottom of image: “The question arose: whether to eat him, or simply to admire his singular sense of style.”

Yeaaaaah I read a young adult book the other day and it was a 16 year old girl who hooked up with an immortal death-diety-guy who had died a few hundred years earlier... but it's okay because he was a teenager when he died. (No it wasn't Twilight) I noped out. I'm too old for that crap now.

Oh I'm an Aussie so I'm familiar with the heat, but thank you! 29 isn't that hot for me (we'll get heatwaves up to 42c in Summer), it's just unseasonably warm weather for SPRING. I haven't tried frozen grapes though, so I'm definitely going to file that away for Summer!

Started a new save already and spent the first two or three in-game days compulsively picking herbs. I do really like the tweaks to alchemy, they made it a lot easier.

Mostly I'm REALLY hoping they continue the series with the Hussite wars, which both Hans and Zizka's historical counterparts were involved in. I get that Henry's story COULD be over... but if Hans goes to war, Henry will be there, whether you ship them together or not.

"Finished" the game today! I use quotation marks because there are a lot of side quests and nooks and crannies I didn't get to because I wanted to know how the story was going to pan out. (And only played the forge DLC) I loved it, totally worth paying the full price. Also Hansry forever.

Yeah that's just really stupid. If you're able to print something out, could you take a few pages of something and just take them out of your pocket? Maybe that'll help them get the hint.

So weird that they don't have just... brochures or any paperwork lying around they could use. Just did mine the other day and they had a combination of the screen, and a laminated sheet you could use to test things as if you were reading a book/phone screen.

Haven't played WoW in over a decade, so I have no idea what this forever stuff is. But seeing a bunch of screenshots on my feed I find it amusing that they still have that 'painted on' gear. idk why I'd just assumed they'd have moved beyond that by now.

While not disagreeing with you, these cats were only 'discovered' recently by the wider scientific community. The locals already knew about them.
