RFK Jr. wants to eradicate autistic people and also has no idea what an autistic person is
"These are kids who will never pay taxes," Kennedy declared. "They'll never hold a
job. Theyl never play baseball. They'Il never write a poem. They'll never go out

doing this to our children.

People with glasses and contacts have to realize that we have a disability that just happens to be highly accommodated for in modern society and that accommodation is the only reason why poor eyesight is not considered a disability.

This feels like a major inflection point. If ICE can apparently unlawfully arrest & disappear a permanent resident and it is not immediately met with strong opposition from the public, officials, and courts, there is no going back.

The only reason previous terrible times in history produced great art is a mix of wealthy patrons and cheap rent, our modern innovation is eliminating both concepts, so of course art is largely stagnant in our culture.

Spent a good chunk of therapy today talking about the Trump admin's threats to ADHD meds & how insane it makes me feel that I might end up rooting for the pharmaceutical industry to flex their lobbying muscles to stop government regulation. Anyway everything is fine.

I'm not sure my self-consciously silly hope that Canada really will annex OR, WA, and CA in the near future is actually less silly than Democrats' expectation that a substantial number of Trump voters will eventually come around and see reason.

I wish the 'we need to focus on economics and the working class' people could understand that race, disability, gender, immigration status...these things ARE economic and working class issues. Anticapitalism is a feminist issue. Justice for some is justice for none.

When I was in my late teens and I was all starry-eyed about the successful filmmaking career I thought I was going to have, I made a top-10 list of all the people I wanted to work with the most. Jerry Goldsmith was #1, and I don't even remember 2-10.

Not exaggerating when I say I would like a personal, handwritten apology from every pundit who barfed out a dozen "the left wants to change the way you talk!" op-eds based on non-mandatory guidelines in obscure PDFs.

With the rapid and exhaustive dismantling of government funding for social goods, the supposedly good billionaires that supposedly exist have more opportunities than ever to step up and demonstrate their value to society.

the thing is that “keep posting, post everything, ignore the people from the community you claim to be defending who are telling you that your post does more harm than good” only feels like an important argument to make if posting about it is the only thing you ever intend to do for that community

I don't think it was pain that made him so great, I think painting brought him whatever happiness he had. * RIP David Lynch
People might bring up Vincent van Gogh as an example of a painter who did great work in spite of, or because of, his suffering. I like to think that van Gogh would have been even more prolific and even greater if he wasn't so restricted by the things tormenting him. I don't think it was pain that made him so great, I think painting brought him whatever happiness he had.

Theoretically this is exactly the sort of thing we *should* be using automation for. People really underestimate how physically damaging a repetitive task like this can be. But instead we live in a world where for many people the options are either 'homelessness now' or 'long-term disability later.'

Star Trek The Next Generation scene. The Enterprise D gang is in Ten Forward standing around a beautifully decorated banquet table adorned with exotic flowers and lots of food. Seems like a fancy party is happening, I'm guessing some light chitter chatter is in the background, dishes and flatware tinkling and clanking, maybe some nice soft harpy music, but this is a picture so it's tough to say. Ok, back to the story, so Captain Picard is carving a large round turkey. Bev Crusher, Geordi, Data, and a very very tall Klingon, all in uniform, stand and observe. Closed caption reads, "I shall try some of your burned, replicated bird meat."

We should attack transphobia head-on simply because it is a disgusting ideology, but if that's not enough for you, it's a system of control that stems from a patriarchal assumption about what a woman "should" be whose natural end is rigid gender roles upheld by state violence. Which seems bad!

I was trying to quickly check the ADA requirements for entryway width for a thing at work, and Google AI spit up this completely nonsensical answer. Utterly useless garbage actively shoving real information to the side.
Screenshot of a Google AI Overview which reads: "According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the minimum clear width for doorways, doors, and gates is 32 inches, but this can be reduced to 36 inches at points for a maximum distance of 24 inches. This increased width accommodates wheelchairs and provides clear wall space on the pull side of the door next to the handle."

I think a lot about that too, that one of the big lessons the American government took away is to never, ever remind people again how possible it is that they could have been meeting some of their material needs this entire time, but choose not to.
