BEHOLD! I finally settled on the design of the ship. Presenting: USS Celeste (NCC- 74642) ✨✨✨ I wanted the ship to look sleek and organic, like a swimming sea creature, and I think I'm finally satisfied with the design. #StarTrek #OriginalArt #Celeste I almost forgot why I avoid drawing vehicles🫠

A few drawings of the spaceship from the artist's original Star Trek series. The ship is primarily steely blue, with accents of a darker grey and black that make it look like a swimming cuttlefish or a grey alien head. The color of the lights on the nacelles are yellow and blue

Top: Worm's eye view of the ship, but the viewer is getting the rear-right view of the ship, so, basically the underside of the nacelles and the right side of the secondary hull. Windows can be seen on the facade.

Middle left: Another worm's eye view, but this time it's the front of the ship. The bottom of the secondary hull has a black y shape, that surrounds the warp core. The bottom of the primary hull is lined with a thin golden line that makes a bat ears shape. Right under where the ears meet, the registry number of the ship is written (NCC-74642)

Middle right: Blue prints of the ship: Side elevation at the top,Top view at the bottom. The views make she ship look like an abstract cuttlefish with eyes on the side, and fountain pen like sign at its head.

Bottom: Bird's eye view of the ship, from the right. Top of the saucer section can be seen, it has two black eye like shapes at it's sides, a a black semi oval shape at the front of it's head, intersected with a tiny white circle and a thin while line. It makes the black shape look like the head of a fountain pen. There are two symmetrical geometrical grey accents to it, sort of like the back of a sea turtle. Right below the black shape at the front, the ship's registry number is written (NCC-74642), slightly warped to match the curve.

Background: Dark blue space, with lots of stars.

reading through the great edge of midnight project and I've come to realise that a listing of the ships, units and formations in the battles mentioned would be some good bonus stuff as I've struggled keeping up with the battle in the Alshanai Rift and who's in what ship and what classes they are.

"They're not misunderstanding the film; they're co-opting a message"

Screencap from the interview linked in the quoted post

Marlow Stern (the interviewer): You have one of the most renowned replies in Twitter history. Elon Musk tweeted out, “Take the red pill,” then Ivanka Trump enthusiastically wrote, “Taken!” to him, and then you replied, “Fuck both of you.” I’m curious how you feel about the co-opting of “The Matrix” by those on the right who don’t really seem to understand its messaging.

Lilly Wachowski: I mean, I can’t sit in a room and explain the movie to every single person who watches it. Even if I did sit in a room with Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump — yikes — it doesn’t matter. They’re not misunderstanding the film; they’re co-opting a message. And that’s what fascists do: They co-opt the messages of progressives and use it to their benefit to confuse and obfuscate what is going on and the intention of their ideology. They do it with everything. They do it with Martin Luther King Jr. Look at how they’ve changed the idea of what antisemitism is.

Feeling aroused? With your mobile phone, you have instant access to pornography at any time! But watch out: in some areas it’s considered a faux pas to view a pornograph in public. Make sure to be aware of your surroundings and their special rules. Well, you’re ready to masturbate. Best of luck.

The wild thing about Attenborough is that he had a whole career as an executive at BBC in the 1950s-1970s, culminating in a position as Director of Programming, and was suggested as a candidate for BBC Director-General before he resigned in 1973 and became a wildlife show presenter full-time.

the overwhelming message the AI industry has sent to young people is “this will ruin any chance you have at a stable career”, of course college grads are booing it regardless of the reality of the claims, the way this technology has been sold is one of the greatest self-inflicted PR disasters ever

again, staying completely silent on the actual merits of ai, the initial ai boosters basically campaigned on "this will eliminate your job, forever, and make me personally rich." it should not surprise *anyone* that this provoked a backlash.

One of the quietly interesting parts of TNG's time jump - and The Undiscovered Country, which was written nearly a decade after that decision was made - is that in a full rewatch the peace won in STVI is worth something because the endless conflict of TOS is over!

It's tragic that we've lost so many old flash promo websites. They were immersive and unique, you dont see websites like that now. I remember a couple that fascinated me when I was younger, like the one for the movie Coraline. You could explore the house, it had secrets, downloadables, minigames...
