Dems: It’s always stronger to stand up for your beliefs than to modulate to appease an audience. People like strong in politics. Even if they disagree with you, they’ll respect you more for being forthright. The best approach is to acknowledge areas of disagreement and pivot to areas of overlap.

When Trump is finally defeated, remember that the hangers-on and the ghouls surrounding him, the JD Vances of the world, will all claim that they were trying to moderate his evil and they should be thanked. And we need to remember that this is a lie. They were willing to do anything for power.

Most Democrats today have little conception or memory of how bold the party was before Reagan. I give you the 1972 Democratic Party platform’s full-throated endorsement of federally administered, nationalized healthcare. The party dropped that, pivoting to “universal” coverage—without the teeth.
Establish a system of universal National Health Insurance which covers all Americans with a comprehensive set of benefits including preventive medicine, mental and emotional disorders, and complete protection against catastrophic costs, and in which the rule of free choice for both provider and consumer is protected. The program should be federally-financed and federally-administered.
