The local news was crowing about not having had any hurricanes this year. Now there’s a massive Cat5 hitting Mexico and a Nor’easter heading for New England. All that energy and heat is still there, it didn’t get released gradually over the summer, so we’re going to get it all at once this fall.

Not that the details matter to Falke. A year aboard an intersystem mech carrier is a year to figure out what she'll do next, and all she needs to do is keep her head down and do what she's told.

It's just another job until the other pilots decide she's bad for business.
