Silvertown tunnel yearly report. It’s good to see all new bus services are zero emission at the tail pipe, but a lot more to look at such as the bike bus with only 100 -130 users a day, averaging only one bike & cyclist per bus. Why not repurpose a tunnel bore? #ActiveTravel #cargobikes #cyclists
TfL report on SilverTown Tunnel: Public and active transport
“We aim to improve cross-river journey opportunities by bus and cycling as well as other local journeys
Project objectives
PO3: to support economic and population growth, in particular in east and southeast London by providing improved cross-river transport links.
The Silvertown and Blackwall Tunnel bus network increased the frequency of services across the river from six to 2l services per hour at the busiest times between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday. This included double-deck buses for the first time, with all the new services being zero-emission at the tailpipe. All routes also benefit from new bus priority measures, which enable quicker journeys to North Greenwich bus station via dedicated slip roads for buses. Between 7 April 2025 and 26 May 2026, all journeys on buses in the new bus network were free.
Silvertown and Blackwall Tunnel bus network
The opening of the Silvertown Tunnel has enabled us to introduce a significantly enhanced higher capacity and increased frequency cross-river bus network in east London. The Victorian era northbound
Blackwall Tunnel could not be used by double-deck buses and was also a persistent source of congestion linked to overheight vehicle incidents which caused hundreds of unplanned closures each year.
This led to unreliable journeys times on route 108, the only bus service to cross the river in this area, as well as for commuter coaches linking Kent and London”. A white chart with purple columns

The government’s action on illegal Israeli settlements is long overdue, but action must go much further. The UK must stop supplying arms to Israel, including F-35 components, and end its complicity in the genocide.

🇮🇪 The National Transport Authority’s updated Climate Action Roadmap highlights progress in decarbonising Ireland’s public transport network, including cleaner vehicles, electrification, sustainable travel measures and further climate action. www.nationaltransport.ie/news/climate...
A diagram titled "Avoid-Shift-Improve Principle" with three columns. The first column is green and labelled "Avoid", which means reducing the need to travel by using better land-use planning. The second column is blue and labelled "Shift", which means moving towards greener transport like public transport and active travel. The third column is orange and labelled "Improve", which means making vehicles cleaner and more energy-efficient.Three separate photographs at the bottom of a report page showing different types of public transport. The first photo on the left shows a green and yellow double-decker bus on a road. The middle photo shows a white single-decker bus parked outside. The final photo on the right shows a modern green, silver, and yellow passenger train sitting on railway tracks.A stakeholder map diagram. A large purple circle in the centre represents the NTA (National Transport Authority). Lines connect this central circle to four main coloured circles representing key partner groups: Society (green), Transport Operators (purple), Government (dark blue), and Industry (pink). Each of these four groups has smaller white circles branching off to list specific organisations, such as community groups, local authorities, and train and bus companies. An infographic titled "NTA Carbon Emissions Profile" set against a dark purple background. It uses simple icons to show where carbon emissions come from. The largest box is for "Sustainable Transport Infrastructure" and shows icons for buses, coaches, trams, trains, and construction work. Smaller sections at the bottom show emissions from office waste, business travel, staff commuting, and corporate energy and fuel use.
