👀London's newest section of Cycleway!! This section of the Cycleway 4 extension - between Gallions Rd & Charlton Church Lane - is due to open this week. We've expanded our network of Cycleways from 90km in 2016 to 450+km today. And cycling across the capital is soaring🚲🚲🚲

Floating bus stops are a simple way to make busy streets work better for everyone. Buses do not get held up by cyclists, while people cycling get a continuous, protected route instead of being forced into traffic. Safer cycling, quicker bus journeys and streets that work for people.

20 is plenty
Greenwich Council has now opened statutory consultation on its proposals to set a borough-wide 20mph speed limit. We welcome the proposal: worldwide collision data demonstrates very clearly that the faster a vehicle is travelling, the more likely a collision will happen. The driver has less time to react, or stop or be able to avoid a collision. And injuries are more severe.

More on 'floating' bus stops soon, but removing cycle tracks at bus stops, which some are calling for, would just mean fewer people cycling and more road danger for those who keep cycling, while not increasing safety for bus users. We need more cycling and more road safety for all, not less. 3/3

That while the behaviour is clearly terrible, pointing fingers at 'bad' cyclists doesn't help much, nor does campaigning to remove an actually quite safe bus stop design while simultaneously ignoring wider road danger & inclusive mobility issues. Spot the difference. We didn't 5x the Cycleways network in London overnight. It took vision, hard work, & the conviction to invest in green infrastructure - often in the face of vocal opposition. In 2016, we had 90km of Cycleways. Now we're at 450km. That's progress. And we're not stopping there.
Graphic with the headline, “London’s cycle network is now five times larger than in 2016.” The upper map is labelled “BEFORE 2016” and shows London with a small number of bright green cycle routes concentrated around central London. The lower map is labelled “AFTER 2026” and shows London with many more bright green cycle routes extending across central and outer London.

Local authorities don't design for middle-aged men riding for sport. If you only get that demographic, it generally means you haven't provided cycle infra at all.

There's been extensive research on floating bus stops, where cycle tracks pass bus stops on a main road. They need to be designed well - but the claims they're dangerous just don't match the evidence. Without them, cycling won't be inclusive & safe for everyone. www.standard.co.uk/news/london/...

The borough’s results are mixed: there has been some progress, but also reversals and data corrections which mean the headline score has barely moved."
