Disappointing lack of initiative from TfL here with the new DLR train screens. Could've added four fellers walking across a zebra crossing.

A lot of people talk about how areas have declined since austerity. The good thing about being from an area like Abbey Wood is that it was ignored long before, so no discernable difference.

Thameslink train passing over the lifting bridge between Greenwich and Deptford stations. It spans Deptford Creek and of course, used to lift up, in order to let vessels pass. Long since welded shut and inoperable.

Potential site of a future DLR station planned for many years. On the Woolwich branch near Canning Town. Plans just submitted for 1,500 homes will assist in funding it if they progress. Prior plan in 2019 for 6,000 homes across acres of vacant land never went anywhere.

This govt record on housing has been a huge let down: New council starts below levels seen under 14 years of the Tories. Data out this week was very poor. More homes sold via Right to Buy last year than under Tories Probe into developer collusion ends after govt pressure on CMA. 1/2

It'll be interesting to see how much difference this will make. It's a tool that's never been used much - double digits annually across the country. Tories restricted it but was barely used either under New Labour eg 22 homes nationally in 2008. Is there a goal/estimate now? 100, 1000, 10,000+?

Insane! As ever, a few extra houses will clear the hurdle rate, the subsidy will be added on to house prices, so increased government debt/spending will just result in higher profits for developers and no change for buyers. Do developers, looks at notes, 'lobby' MPs? 🤔 www.ft.com/content/e23b...

Same old can kicking. Give a sugar rush, prices spike beyond affordability and wages shortly after and the housing market grinds to a halt again down the line. We see this again, and again, and again. Labour so out of ideas they're doing it once more. They know it achieves little.

It's 'help for developers' and designed to push house prices up ever higher relative to wages. Poor from Pennycook. Solves nothing long term. More props that cause stagnation when stopped. The same failure from the Tories and George Osbourne repeated.

Labour in the pocket of volume developers. All out of ideas and copying the worst of George Osborne and the Tories. For those in SE London, remember Matt Pennycook is fully for this. Labour members might want to ask him what he's playing at and who he is going to bat for.

Housing Minister Matt Pennycook reportedly pushing hard to revive one of George Osborne's worst policies in Help to Buy. A bung to volume developers that of course did nothing to help housing problems, hence why we still have them Coupled with fewer council housing starts than the Tories 1/2

I've been out today taking many photos of various development sites for the website. What's been evident at every single one is how poor Southeastern Metro stations are. No staff anywhere in the shadow of thousands of new homes. DfT won't fund station and staffing improvement.

To show just how badly this government is doing with building new council housing, the latest figures covering three months in q2 2026 are below pretty much every quarter seen under 14 years of the Conservatives. Including austerity and covid. Often substantially so.
