Last spring I taught Island Biology, which focused heavily on the Galapagos. Before then I didn't really grasp how devastating El Niño events could be to that ecosystem. Those penguins and marine iguanas (among others!) are in for a rough year...

Another new-to-me species! Found this awesome Arrowhead Orbweaver (Verrucosa arenata) chowing down on an unfortunate dragonfly (species unknown) this morning. #BugSky #spider 🕷️📸
An orbweaver spider with red head and legs, and a brown-and-black mottled abdomen with a large white backwards-pointing triangle on it chows down on a large golden-brown dragonfly that's bent in half and loosely wrapped in webbing.

We are searching for an outstanding postdoc with a background in behavioural and evolutionary ecology to join an exciting project comparing sexual behaviour across all widow spider species at Ben-Gurion University.

THE PROJECT INCLUDES:
Literature survey of sexual behaviour and life history in widow spiders
Locating widow spider populations across the globe
Fieldwork in natural populations
Spider rearing and maintenance
Behavioural observations of mating interactions and outcomes
Integrating behavioural, morphological, ecological and phylogenetic data to reconstruct evolutionary trajectories and uncover coevolutionary relationships

So we know AI helped a negligible number of students. But how many did it harm? I've crunched the raw data provided by the lead researcher, and what I've found is that ~9,500 students using AI studied less than even the *least* studious, non-AI using student. This should shock the conscience.
